The Wiki Game

The game is simple. Go to a random page on wiki, and try to reach Jesus in the least amount of Links. And then what you went through to find Jesus.

I found jesus by going to Randomwebsite.com from then I go sent to caalifornia state university long beach. From there i went to the art, the theatre, Then when I thought all was lost and i was in my darkest hour I found The holy site map. From there I found my way to religious studies . On the page of the bachelor of Arts in religious studies  I found jesus.

Link 1: Google "Cupboards from beyond"
Link 2: Friends from beyond the veil (google books)
Link 3: Some other book.
Link 4: Jesus was mentioned in the third books description.

Considering I had a random start I think that went well.

EDIT: I could have knocked it down to 2 links if I did a word search of the first book.

Jesus is too easy to find. What about a wiki game for Raptor Jesus? It would be so much harder.

Got the random page "Laizhou" which is a city in china. From there I clicked on China and then I read during the late dynastic rule (Mid 1800's) there was a civil war led by a man who thought he was the younger brother of Jesus.

Well that was easier than I thought.

1: Raoul Jobin
2: Order of Canada
3: Bible
4: Jesus

Still easy enough to do.

If you keep clicking on the first link in Wikipedia articles, you eventually reach Jesus.
Proven fact.*

I'll test that, Gat.

Nope - Kulikovsky (my random page) ended in a loop around the "Language" article. I'll try again.
That's two "Language" loops - initial page being "Aakhri Ghulam"

Some Canadian TV Channel > French language > Roman Empire > Christianity > Jesus

At the end there I was kind of looking for it.

I tested it, and it seems that clicking on the first link in Wikipedia articles, from anywhere on the site, eventually traps you in an infinite loop bouncing back and forth between the language and mathematics pages (with a few in between).

Seriously, try it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Falls,_New_York -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marriage ->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_Christ
Or in English: High Falls, New York -> Marriage -> Jesus Christ.

I think I did a pretty good job for a first try. Got lucky, though, with the marriage link.

Tested that also.

Eoin Griffin (Irish rugby player) -> Irish Name -> Irish-Language -> Goidelic Language -> Irish-Language

Still, that is a fairly strange starting point.

Zemarchus (Byzantine diplomat) -> Greek Language -> IPA for Greek -> International Phonetic Alphabet -> Alphabet -> Letter -> Grapheme -> Greek Language

Wow. Pretty roundabout fashion, but got there eventually.

Maybe I'm not supposed to count the parentheses with their native name in it. Otherwise it seems like any article on something with a foreign/alternate pronunciation or word origin would loop in its native language.

Guess I might as well throw an actual round of the game in here while I'm at it:

Gary Grant (some actor) -> North London -> England -> Church of England (Catholic Church was mentioned by name first but not linked) -> Jesus Christ

This feels too easy somehow. Maybe there needs to be a hard mode where you can't route through countries, or something.

Mathematics and linguistics are the root of all knowledge. Huh.

And Irony, It really doesn't matter if you ignore the IPA or not. you still get to language or mathematics, and those loop back on each other.
