Long live DF. I like the DF version of mermaids a lot better than Disney's.

I agree, but then again I am a sadistic *NFSW*.  Any game that lets you be an evil overlord, and butcher everything I will like.  This game does it perfectly.

Danger Room:
N.
1. A room built for training soldiers quickly and efficiently by forcing them to block and dodge wooden retracting spikes. 2. A top-secret government project to make the ultimate supersoldiers. It exceeded all expectations, but like all superdwares, they had a fatal flaw: Increased neurosis. Once friendly, normal dwarves become dead shells of themselves after surviving the horrors of the Room, with nothing left but the most primal notions. There have been incidents (officially denied by the government) of entire forts being gruesomly murdered without any sign of outsided intrustion.

1. Not always wooden. There are always more !FUN! alternatives :P
2. Dwarves don't keep secrets, if they do they forget about them after the fourth time the spinning microline hits the dwarf in the skull D:
3. Dwarves have governments? O_o
4. Danger rooms don't make dwarves apathetic or berserk monstrosities, they just make them apathetic berserk monstrosities with skills overpowered. And not by smashing in hundreds of elven skulls.

I can butcher them with wooden bolts.  In an arena.  Very slowly.

Yuk, Elf Schnitzel? Eeew.

I was talking more about plump helmet men... Besides, if you had to eat Elf, they would go best in soup form. Just 'sayin.

If you design an elf harvester...

  • Herd elves into room
  • Kill elves in a gory way
  • Use water to wash the elf crap into a pit
  • Open hatches in pit to drop elf crap into magma

Sure you could just dump magma on them, but that's no fun.

Mermaid:

1. Benign, half-fish humanoids that live in the peaceful seas. 2. The initial stage of exceptionally well made ivory goods.

Troll:
1. A sentient being of low intelligence that can be found in caves or accompanying see goblins in a see siege. Where goblins are stopped by a simple locked door, waiting for those inside to let them inside in a friendly, neighbourly fashion, trolls are too stupid to understand concepts such as "door", "closed" and "locked". Subsequently they walk straight into it, destroying it in an unfriendly fshion, to the delight of nearby goblins who could not seem to use their weapons to destroy said door. Trolls grow long fur that occasionally has to be shaven off. Goblins fashion many types of clothing from this fabric, including clothing for trolls. It is a strange fabric and has a hypnotic quality for dwarfs, who will wade through a sea of enemies to get a troll fur sock, even if it means losing both legs.

2. A person who posts on forums, purposely writing offensive texts. This being has not been seen in the DF forum for such a long time that it is starting to become a mythical creature, kin to the grue

3. A particularly ugly person
