All they need is a forum and to tell new players to start in Ireland... Ireland there as a big nothing is a liability.

-> We should really build up our navy. The main powers in the game are locked in a land war if we go navy we can 'beat' them in that area in an arms race and hopefully they will not be able to ever catch up. They can not attack us with their ground troops if we have a greater navy. We can however defend all our lands with a larger navy and move around a small ground army where and when we need it.

So we should be Great Britain, is what you're saying?  :P

One thing (as potential Education Minister) that I will say is that basic naval tech is 4-5 times more expensive than air or ground tech. Production of ships is also crazy expensive. However....you only need to build one ship vs. having to build 100 tanks for a tank regiment or XX fighters for a fighter wing.

We'll also need to figure out what kind of fleet we want to develop. Possibly the War Minister will want to appoint sub-ministers such as the First Lord of the Admiralty, to focus on specific branches? This where a few recon submarines might be handy early on. We need to know what kind of fleets the major powers are sporting to counter-build accordingly.

Well I am holding British ground to the west of the Atlantic, I will probably be increasing my focus to naval warfare as well as planes.

God DAMN I love this game!

If we do get serious about a colonial Empire (Labrador, Egypt, India, Gibraltar, the Sudan, Nigeria, etc.) we're going to need transport ships. LOTS of transport ships. And destroyers to escort them.

EDIT: Also, just realized that we have a number of areas that can be exploited for rubber that might be more secure than Egypt or India. British Guyana has four provinces and they're chock full of jungle. Unless the US or one of the Central American minors suddenly goes to the Axis, that should be quite secure. There's also the single province of The Gambia (which is surrounded by what should be friendly French territory), Sierra Leone (which is one single massive province chock full of jungles, with some mountain, hills and swamp as well), Nigeria, Kuwait, Yemen, Bahrain, Palestine, the Transjordan, Cyprus,  Bermuda, much of the Caribbean, several South Pacific islands, Hong Kong, Singapore, Burma, northern Borneo, and a huge contiguous swath of territory from Egypt down to Namibia. At some point, we need to get a few of those far-flung posessions up and running as naval/air bases to extend our power. Cyprus in particular could prove important. And it looks like somebody is developing Malta, which is important if Italy goes the historical route.

In the meantime, I'm glad to say the first Blackburn Baffin should start production tomorrow, and be finished by the end of the week.

@hemmingjay

I am in the northern part of Scotland, so might be one of you closest neighbours.

Not sure quite how I can help without a transport ship, I figured that meant maybe I should go Naval, then I figured it might be weeks before I got a ship ready!

You might be best off going it alone, and maybe producing transport ships? Not glamorous, but we will need them, and once you do produce them, we can send supplies to you!  Not that you'll need them by then, quite as much as you need them now...

Dunno if anyone else has any ideas, looks like you choose Hard mode.

Actually, just looking ahead at the next model of torpedo bomber, it's the Blackburn T.5 Ripon. Which is ass-backwards, because the Baffin was a Ripon refitted with a better engine.  ::)

Guessing the 1936 model will be the Fairey Swordfish. Might be a while before we actually see any monoplane designs.

That might be a sign that we all need to put some resource into research?
