Why is Cuba part of the Soviet block? It wasn't communist untile Batista got evicted by Castro in the 50's.

kaczmilk it is a very nice game thankyou for your hard work. Will you be making any change to map tiles? For instance special oil tiles in middle east and so on. As you can see there is not many reasons for anyone not to play in the British Isles when they join Great Britain. It would be intresting to have people fight for areas of the map and would also make sense historically. I think one of the reasons Japan expanded was to look for oil etc. Not only natural resources some areas of the world have long had an advatage for factory production...

Oh thats grand.

Oh gawd looks like I should have not left cairo  :o

The map seems about right Germany needs to push out for oil. Japan has nothing and you can see them looking to move into China.

Don't worry. It takes time to implement this. Probably Q1 next yer together with other big changes (rivers, possibility to design your own weapons etc.)

I find it odd that europe has no iron ore at all, and that britain has oil fields :o

Map has to be fixed. There is extremly hard to find good sources of information about that. I think original map included sourecs of oil that come to England from oil platforms.

The British Isles should definitely have iron and coal.

Thats actually why I picked Whitehaven as a province, it's smack dab in the middle of a big coal field (Cumbrian Coal Field) and has a ton of iron mines in the area. My plan was to be a big steel producer, lol. I think Whitehaven actually took off as a city because of the big coal and iron deposits in the area.

Oh, and Britain does have onshore oil fields. Nothing like Saudi Arabia, but they do produce a good bit of oil.

Well it needs to just mark where the large deposits are for huge war machines.

Just for fun, I ran some numbers based on building production and requirements and such. I based production figures on a per-building number, which equals the number of buildings you need to produce that resource. For example, if you want a bank producing money (assuming all equal level buildings) you also need a fifth of a power plant to produce the power and 15% of a coal mine to get the coal for that power, so the total buildings involved in that one bank producing is 1.35. This means 20 banks needs 4 power plants and 3 coal mines to support them. I also calculated the total cost of the buildings in cement/lumber/steel.

Anyway, using per building production numbers and assigning prices based on the amount of buildings required, adjusted a bit to be nice round numbers and to give really expensive buildings a higher product value, I came up with the following price chart (all standardized to the value of money). Each price is per 1000 units.

Code: [Select]
Resource Price Income* Hours till breakeven**
Money 1000 592.59 280.75
Lumber       90 432*** 73.22
Cement       90 432*** 73.22
Coal    70 560 141.47
Steel        1600 595.35 224.9
Rubber      3000 576**** 62.78
Rare Metal 1600 480 165.05
Fuel          2700 557.47 278.16
Food          800 480 75.34
Uniforms  50000 531.91 211.3
Ammunition 1000 595.16 280.57
Horses      27000 486***** 74.41

*Money value income, per hour per building, using numbers from level 20 buildings.
**Based on the average costs of the buildings divided by the per-building hourly production.
***Base value at 100%, 561 on 30% bonus terrain.
****Rubber from rubber farms on jungle. Synthetic rubber factories would be a measly 246.15.
*****Based on 120% production on plains/savanna.

I mostly did it to sate my own curiosity, but it does give a pretty good idea of how resources relate to eachother and where to set prices on things. It also highlights that fuel is really, really expensive to produce - making shipment by plane/truck a very expensive endeavor. With the ease of getting coal, trains are the obvious choice for cheaply hauling resources around.

Generally, one production building at a 0% bonus can supply one manufacturing building (Case being one cooton plantation for one uniform factory.) Only exception to this rule happens to be mines. An iron mine can supply two foundries of the same level.

Taking a look around britian, quite a few of it's provinces are fairly well-managed, though some others may need a lot more guidance and work to get up to speed. What did surprise me is one guy in wales with level 19 air factories...

EDIT: That is why we have the empire :P

Yea, a price for rubber if making it synthetic would be more like 70000. That would get you a hourly profit of 574.36 with a breakeven time of 300.32.

Level 20 Rubber farm on jungle makes 192 rubber an hour by itself with no inputs.

Level 20 rubber factory only produces 200, and needs a bunch of power and an entire oil well to supply it. Production per building of only 82.05, and the buildings cost about 5x on average to build than the rubber farm.

Geez, guess we'll need to dedicate a forest province to mass farming rubber after we become diplomattically active. a 50% reduction my seem big, but we'll need the petrol elsewhere  :-\

Not like we'll have to worry about being attacked for a while, As I don't think that anyone has been inclined to make a navy yet, And germany has to deal with superpoland :P
