i'v got a big coal surplus, 801K with 12K free production. and more comeing
railways are great untill it meats the border of my land.
my max steel production is 1k/h
sulfur production just meets the need of makeing ammo (410/hour)
rubber, rare metals, and Fuel are my weak points.

the lack of workers mean that i have to shutdown everything to build upgrades, no joke 8.8K of builders.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

I actually had a kind of nightmare about this game last night. I got invaded by Russia and everyone decided to offer me up as a sacrificial lamb to try to prevent getting in an all out war with Russia.

My entire province was bombed to bits and I fought a desperate guerilla war.

It doesn't really make sense but hey, it was a dream.

Finally linked myself to neighbors with roads. Railroads will have to wait however.... all my steel goes to upgrading the steel mills.

I shouldn't have spent so much on the railroad to Paul's province :(.

steel is quite harder to upgrade than I thought, since both mines and factories need the steel which I don't have yet.

by the way , what is a good production of steel before I start building factories?
I was thinking about 1000, but it seems that steel is used for a lot of things, so that may be a bit low. However, I don't want to lag behind during war efforts either...

at least, after I get a lvl 10 coal mine, I'll unlock several missions which should me some quite nice bonuses, among which a good load of steel. missions seem to be really useful to speed up developement.

Yeah, I'm up to 100k steel thanks to missions. Producing 2.5k an hour and cannot use it all. I'll ship 25k to you RedKing.

Upgrading your city eats a lot of steel but it's within the manageable if you don't waste the missions freebies. You will have to start a serious steel industry by the time your city gets close to lvl. 10.

define serious.

I wasted part of the first 2 freebies to get some useless railroads ( do we even have trains?), but most of it went to upgrading the city, which I felt was better done early than late. a big part of the third freebie will go there too.
but I am also using most of my steel to improve the steel making industry, which seem to be crucial to the game ( although not as much as population perhaps). Luckily, at least for low levels, my base resources economy is solid ( 24k/h planks and cement), but that means little if other resources cause bottlenecks.

@Sheb: Much obliged. That should let me finish my city up to 10, which should set me to clear sailing through the next 10 missions or so. All those reward resources should get me over the hump a bit and let me really dig into making Dundee the center of technological advancement in Britain :D

Sending 7000 steel to you Andrea. Sent it via two separate trucks, figuring maybe it'd have a less chance of magically disappearing like my cement/lumber load did last time.

this time, I should be able to be online when they arrive, so I might be able to keep an eye on them to see what happens.
but now that there is a road, maybe things will go better.

thanks for answering to my totally subtle calls for steely help :P I think you spared me a day or 2 here.

Damn, only send 10k due to not enough people to drive the trucks. Will send ya some more.

Paul, you still need to decide if I'll go Air or Naval.

I don't really know enough about the game yet to decide :P

Air is probably better for defense, since you can make bombers to take out both infantry and ships that are near our shores. Naval would be good to keep troops from landing, but im not sure how effective that would be with the map being so big, they could sneak ships in and land just about anywhere, and after the troops are on the ground our ships wouldn't be able to fight them.

We'll need a navy too though, especially if we want to ship things via boats. I wonder how that works, can you assign ships to guard a transport?
