Voted Paul for El Presidente, since he asked so niceley. :P

Also, still thinking about what force to specialize in, was planning on going naval at first but it sounded like someone from bay12 was already planning that so might go Air or Infantry. (Or my usual balanced approach :P)

Geez, guess we'll need to dedicate a forest province to mass farming rubber after we become diplomattically active. a 50% reduction my seem big, but we'll need the petrol elsewhere  :-\

Not like we'll have to worry about being attacked for a while, As I don't think that anyone has been inclined to make a navy yet, And germany has to deal with superpoland :P

It's actually a 60% reduction, so 40% production compared to 120% in a jungle - you get 1/3 of what the jungle would.

You'll technically get a good bit less per equally leveled building than synthetic rubber, but the cost is significantly less so you could have higher level buildings with the same resources. You could build level 30 rubber plantations for about the same cement/lumber investment and without the 30.5k steel as the level 20 synth rubber factory buildings. And production per building would be almost double. Only downside is it takes about 1/3 more labor per unit of rubber, so if you were short of men it wouldn't work out.

Synth rubber manufacturing is pretty crummy, haha.

I haven't really decided on what to go factory wise either, but I don't plan on building factories for a while anyway. I want a big material production first, enough to support upgrading of the factories when I build them without taking away from the rest of my province development. No point dumping resources in a factory now when I don't have the stuff to actually make anything yet :)

We'll need a little of everything though. Ships and planes to actually get off the island, and ground forces to actually move off the island. A bunch of transport planes full of paratroopers would be an interesting invasion tactic, although a ship full of marines would probably be more effective.

I think that's the benefit of having india and parts of africa then. Those areas are perfect for building up provided that italy hasn't activated and china/japan doesn't go for a landgrab near india...

Except it'll take forever to move the ressources around.

Actually, it'll probably be more effective to invade some land from another country with jungle: those provinces can be managed by someone who already own a british province=> it can build up really quickly.

Also, a transport ship cost 1 million steel. We'll need to poor our ressources to build one. :/

I mean it's already british territory, we just have to build it up after giving to someone already in britain...

We can't. That's the point: those provinces are in a "register pool", not the "country pool" where they can be given away by the Interior Minister.

The only way would be for one of us to secede, invade them, then join the UK again and give them to the country pool.

Another thing to consider: I wonder how expensive it would be to actually ship rubber from Africa to GB.

Transport ships consume 6k fuel, I think thats hourly? Not sure. Speed is 20, thats 40% that of a truck so they're kinda slow. If I had to guess I'd say probably a week or so go travel between the Cairo area and GB, although thats a WAG with very little basis in fact.

But assuming a week, and assuming that fuel usage is hourly (I know, alot of assumptions) that would be about 2 million fuel round trip. They can carry 5 million rubber. That'd be pretty expensive, plus you have to build the ships to transport it and it comes with a risk of the ships being intercepted along the way.

Might be better to just grow the stuff on hills, forests, and plains. If the wiki is correct, those should all produce at 40%.

One odd thing is on plains it shows 1 for a level 1 rubber plantation, on a hill it shows 1. with the decimal. I wonder what thats about? I've never actually built a rubber plantation, but for it to be showing that decimal place maybe hills are different than plains even though the wiki says they're the same? Don't have any forest or mountain tiles free to see what a level 1 plantation on them would show.

Well on a forest the rubber production is 1 but on a swamp it is the same as a hill 1., I have no idea what that means though.

I sometime see the 1. in my munition reserves. No idea what it is.

Also, no need to go all the way to India for jungles: there's plenty of those on the African coasts. We may be able to carve a rubber-making colony out of French Africa.

Problem is: we need loads of jungle, to produce enough rubber for the whole country.  I doubt Egypt got enough.

But anyway, do not produce rubber now. We have over a month before being diplomatically active (so before being at war) Which mean we don't need to start producing troops for at least 3 weeks. You should focus on cement/planks/steel for now.

Besides, we'll only need rubber for armour units, we'll just be focusing more on air and sea power than ground...

EDIT: Nevermind that. We'll need a lot of rubber if we want to get off land...
