I'm afraid I have been facing a bigger evil for the past few days:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I'll try to play some this weekend.

Danger room for two months, then take on it with your bare hands, the dwarven Saxton Hale way!

The dwarven way would, of course, to dip it in magma.

Hmm, presumably a cave-in would also work, if you can't find a volcano.

Wait, that's not right... In a volcano you find lava, not magma...

Not if it hasn't erupted yet.

Yes, I have done 10 of the 30 calculus optimization problems that are due Monday. I'll probably do the rest tomorrow, along with my AP Gov essays.

Oh, you mean Dwarf Fortress. No, that will be tonight.

Oh dear.  The attempt at Operation "Bait-and-Beast" didn't work?

You know what you need to do next, then...

Try it again!

UPDATE TIME!

My teaser wasn't entirely true. But, first, let's discuss some oddities that happened.

Spoiler: Ghostception (click to show/hide)

A bunch of ghosts popped up in Migrantopia. Their sheer numbers seemed to generate enough ectoplasmic energy to create a bunch of steam out of nowhere. The migrants were horribly burned. Then, Weri showed up and harassed them for a bit. The last living migrant was a screen away from the entrance to the fortress when he bled out.

Spoiler: Oops (click to show/hide)

They're all dead except for the Eternal Blister, Mego III. She should have been dead a long time ago, considering the fact that her wounds are much worse than any of the migrants', and her fellow reclaimers died within a span of 2 weeks from the same wounds.

Losses: 6 migrants, 1 baby alpaca, Mego III's left lower leg and foot.
Gains: 10-20 ghosts, 7 bodies, 2 weeks in-game time, more random shit cluttering the map.

So, gentledwarves, we are at a crossroads. There are 3 options I see:

1. Let DF run 24/7 until next spring or until Mego III finally dies, whichever comes first.
2. Pass the save off right now to someone who is more willing to do #1 than I am.
3. Abandon the reclaim and let the next person on the list try again.

I would prefer not to do #1, as I lack the time, patience, and processing power needed to run DF for several hours straight. Which of the other 2 would be best?

Well, I'm new here, but I'll do it lol. This whole thing is a bit surreal. With luck, maybe I'll get a miner who can make a proxy fort in a migrant wave, or a dwarven caraven will actually do something. Or Mego III will somehow get up and do shit.

My only qualification is breaching HFS without knowing about it and living due to my extreme paranoia, but I'm eager for FUN.

By the way guys, even though you've failed miserably for 15 pages and nearly 2 real time weeks, don't give up!  Battlefailed was reclaimed, cleaned up, and made into a thriving metropolis by one guy!

Anything is possible in Dwarf Fortress!

Well, if Mego III is as glitched as I think she is, then it should be possible to just throw migrant waves at the fortress until something sticks. Unless of course the civ is dead, in which case there will only be one more migrant wave anyway. Also, the save would go to Keldane anyway, since he's next on the list.

Ummm...I actually took the latest save prior to yours and started playing...I think I've sucessfully reclaimed (or at least established a foothold): my started seven have walled themselves into a little alcove I dug with a fair amount of their supplies, and so far no FBs have shown up...

This year's task: Build a worthy proxy fort.

Eventually: Dig into the fort proper and retake it one room at a time.
