Dat copper
« on: November 25, 2011, 12:58:46 pm »

Well, I took a long hiatus from playing DF due to school and such, and i completely forgot where I should start looking for copper

I'm aware that it's the worst metal, I just need a jumping off point for holding off the goblins, because if my forts' size is any indication, they'll be coming soon.

Basalt, dacite, andesite, rhyolite, obsidian and sandstone layers.

EDIT: Or anywhere because tetrahedrite.

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

This and This

The wiki is your best friend - quicker to find stuff there than a forum question.

You'll find me linking lots of wiki articles in the forums - I'm simply adopting the philosophy of teaching a man how to fish. no impersonal rudeness intended.

Righto then

Just wanted to give my militia stuff to train with other than just slapping each other, because that's what's going on right now

And no, no wooden stuff, because I forget to have them equip the real stuff when the gobbos come calling...

Meh, if you're fort is in a dire predisposition, then you can always wall off yourself from the rest of the world, and go for steel/adamantine clad monsters :P

You need to crank out copper armour and weapons anyway so as not to waste steel making inferior quality steel weapons and armour. Plus all the tetrahedrite gives you the silver you need for those warhammers. Sometimes, though all you can find is bloody cassiterite...

Cassiterite is neat. On one of my old forts, was full of limonite, sphalerite, all metals available, except for casitterite - which was in teeny teeny clusters in the sedimentary layers. was WOO when I found 5.

Sphalerite? Boiling-zinc magma trap ideas have been thrown around before.
