Black Friday! Discussion/Bragging thread.
« on: November 25, 2011, 02:33:22 am »

So, what did the respective community of Bay12 get this year? Sales were kinda shit in general in my area, and surprisingly enough, most of the good sales were at 12:00 AM-1:30 AM instead of Friday night. Regardless, discuss what your haul was/your prospects for buying something.

(somewhat) related:

Basically what the Walmart I went to looked like. We had 30+ cash registers going and the lines barely moved.

I got to laugh at the people who got up at 3 AM to shop for cheap STUFF.

After all, it is highly important that everyone have LOTS AND LOTS OF STUFF.

I think my minimalist side is showing.

I couldn't afford to go to Black Friday. Plus, I usually do online orders around this time instead.

Funny enough, my sister went to the local Wal-Mart, and she said it was the closest thing to the Zombie Apocalypse she's ever seen. I don't know if she meant the people were like zombies or survivors, but things were being pulled off the shelves like mad.

Thank goodness that store sells shotguns and ammo. You can make sure ASAP.

<- Has never cared about black friday.

If they were handing out FREE stuff, maybe. But I hate shopping in general.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

This and I don't think that Black Friday is a thing over here (except maybe for certain infamous songs).

I love Black Friday for the trampling.  I put on my cleats and crushed some woman's spine.

And I ran over four small children in front of the store so I could park in the fire lane.

I'm waiting for a clear picture of this year's chaos to emerge.  Doesn't look like anyone died this time.  I'm impressed.

Maybe nobody died, but a few people did get maced in the face in the name of "competitive shopping."
Yes, it happened in a Wal-Mart, where else?

I liked the reports of shootings in electronics isles. Attempted murder is totally worth a discount on a dvd player.

Eh, the only explanation I could possibly understand was that brand expert guy who said on the ABC news website that black friday is really only about the competition of being first to the bargains. So, like a sport, but with macings, tramplings and shootings... but still, it's not like the sales are really THAT special. Just friggin' take up bargain hunting at markets and garage sales or something. Except I suppose that doesn't provide the immediate "you've gained/saved X amount! Well done valued shopper!" value and doesn't involve excessive violence. Not to mention it takes some actual knowledge/effort to make anything. Bah.

A couple shootings, too, but no deaths.  Is this the first time nobody has been trampled to death?
