Yesterday (i.e. the 24th) I had rice, pita bread and chili con frijoles.

(Thanksgiving is for a) North Americans and b) non-vegetarians :P)

Turkey, stuffing in ball form, THE ALMIGHTY MASHED POTATOES, salad, rolls, a green bean + onion straw + sauce casserole, diet root beer.  We haven't hit the dessert yet.

Right then. My seasonal gluttony ain't coming for exactly another month, and I think I'll have to temporarily devegetarianise to get very much out of it at all.

I dined on turkey, mashed potatoes, glazed sweet potatoes, and some sort of salad thing. Very traditional, actually. Last year we had home-made pasties, but not this year.

Despite the fact that I swore I would do none of the cooking, I ended up making the potatoes and the gravy. I wish I could remember how that happened. At least I know that I make some damn good mashed potatoes.

Next? Various pies.

Turkey
Mashed potatoes + gravy
Mashed sweet potatoes + marshmallows
Orange jello with Mandarin oranges
Cranberry jelly (slices)
Rolls
Pumpkin pie
Key lime pie

All together, probably equal to my food intake for an entire day, or more. What a feast.

Oh, and we had - but I did not consume:
Stuffing
Broccoli salad
Pecan pie
Peanut butter pie (will definitely eat some tomorrow)

This thread is for seasonal glutony in general ,my friend.
'Tis the season to be gluttonous, if you can be.

Turkey, stuffing, cranberry jelleh, gravy, sweet potato soup, apple pie, ice cream, a baguette, etc. etc. And then the dude from buffalo offered me some of the spice he had in this little red container thingy. Slapped that shit on the turkey. IT TASTED LIKE PAIN. Other than that it was pretty cool.

I'm kinda thrown off by the date. I'm used to my unofficial totally 100 percent legit canadian thanksgiving.

I had a bagel with some strawberry cream cheese~
Yes, ONE bagel~
Shocking, innit?

I hate traditional thanksgiving foods and I hate being gluttonous and fail to see the point~
I'd rather give a roast turkey to the nearest shanty than eat it myself~

You disgusting hedonistic bastard.

Plus, I'd argue that Thanksgiving is more about giving thanks for your blessings and whatnot rather than gluttony, but that's just me. >.>

Same here, the gluttony is just a nice side order.

For me it's always been a family thing. It's an excuse to get everyone together and cook and bake together, like we used to do as kids. The food that results is a nice bonus.

The cooking only bothered me a bit this year because cooking is my job, and sometimes I honestly get sick of it. Which is kind of sad! Ah well.

The major nonstandard thing was this thing that was brussels sprouts, grapes, and cranberries baked together and then tossed with balsamic vinegar and walnuts. Somehow, it was delicious.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
