What are your dwarves thankful for?
« on: November 24, 2011, 05:14:05 pm »

It's Thanksgiving here in the US, so I think the question is reasonable. What do you think your little guys are most grateful for today?

Mine are pretty enthused about the new militia commander, whom I have nicknamed "The Blender." I even made sure the goblins got close to the courtyard, so that they would all know just how close they were to death before he got there.

Don't tell anyone that you can see their shadows. If they hear you telling anyone, if you let them know that you know of them, they will get you.

My soldiers are thankful of the 2 steel artifact swords and the electrum war hammer.

My dwarves are thankful of the High Master Engraver that migrated to the fort in the second wave.

my dwarves are thankful I dont press the abandon button so they dont spontaneously die, thats when the king arrives.
oh, also that there is not a military industry yet (mainly because I just select drunktards randomly, give their armor, weapons and force them to fight)

Mine are happy they all have the opportunity to die for the fortress, valiantly defending the fort against stray bolts and axe blades, before going back to growing pig tails, rope reeds and lotsa food.

Why couldn't my vampire Hammerer eat someone useless, like a migrant? Instead, she went after my only gemcutter.. but sadly there were no witnesses, so I convicted someone's pet duck as the murderer.  It got off easy, with no beatings or jail time.  >.<

Urist McDwarf has gotten a happy thought, knowing he's still alive.

I like to think mine are thankful for having a designated Avatar of Armok who does his level best to keep all of them, even irritating nobles and not-especially-useful migrants, alive and reasonably happy.

Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

My dwarves are thankful that my jail has lots of gold chains and booze.
They are going to celebrate by starting a tantrum spiral.

This is a turkey meat roast. The ingredients are masterfully prepared turkey meat, exceptionally minced dwarven syrup, exceptionally minced valley herbs, and masterfully minced rock nut oil.

My dwarves all died in a tantrum spiral. Nobody is honestly happy in this game.

Also, minced rock nut oil??  That is _not_ the sign of a happy cook.

Why, the same thing that everyone is thankful for, or course! The fact that I not only exist, but try my hardest to be the very best omnipotent god-king I can be. Not just for me, but for all of you as well.

It's like the same reason I never have to bring gifts to a birthday party, they already have my presence.
