Your ship is heavily damaged and unsuitable for long-range travel.

Your frontal sensors show you the image of a space station. Scanning suggests station can no longer support inhabitants. No breathable atmosphere detected. Station confirmed as Falar, but heavy damage suggests an attack on it and possibility of active enemy forces in vicinity.

Suggested course of action: Approach station.

Approaching space station at sublight speed.
Scanning for hostiles.
Code: (Scan results) [Select]
Detected 3 inactive and highly damaged LRSv12E.
Detected 1 damaged Falar space station.
Detected 16 inactive light Falar defense platforms.
No further possible hostiles detected.
All detected possible hostiles hostiles have been identified as being of Falar origins.
The space station has opened docks for porting.
Determine status of station comms.

Code: (Scan results) [Select]
Station comms have been destroyed or are otherwise completely inactiveReviewing mission.
Primary mission objective: Explore unexplored territories or territories that have been deemed to have outdated data. In case of contact with sentient species attempt to establish friendly communiations and contact high command.
Reviewing first log entry.
Opening corrupted log.

Current priority goal: Repairs
Your ship is heavily damaged and unsuitable for long-range travel.

No hostiles have been detected.

The station has opened docks for porting.
The station has sent no docking signal of any kind and as such, docking is not an official action and may be grounds for termination should high command deem so.

Times are not recorded on logs due to relativistic effects on the scout. Only times kept in logs are ETAs for FTL travel. Times are only kept on high command after recieving them in order to keep a precise timetable.

All uncorrupted logs are open to advanced analysis system at all times. Corrupted logs are released on an as requested basis.

Suggested course of action: Main analysis system has deemed itself unsuitable for analysis.

Determine the location of the closest stellar body, and determine its spectral classification, spectral sub-classification, and luminosity class. We need to know what kind of star we're near, if any.

(My money's on an M9V class star, or a brown dwarf.)

Attempt to analyze (the corrupted parts of the) analysis system, then determine which star the ship is nearby.

You are already supposed to know this:
The LRSv12E(Long Range Scout version 12 Extended) is the newest in scouting technology. It boasts an FTL engine capable of going 3 lightspeeds faster than regular version 12s, improved hull integrity and self-sufficiency systems. The addition of the AAS(Advanced Analysis System) allows it to deal even with other species and situations that would have beforehand required manual intervention.
The UAAIC should have no worries, as all actions of the AAS are logged and monitored at all times and can be shut down at the first signs of trouble. UAAIC officials themselves have gone over the coding and found no problems with it.

The LRSv12E is a clear upgrade over the LRSv12.
FTL speed has gone from 10 to 13.
It can recharge its solar batteries 30% more efficiently.
Improved sensors allow it to make LRSv10 style scans from the next star over.
And it now comes in a sleek gold paintjob, showing all other sectors that you have better tech than them.

You do not know this:

Report on the AAS by Dr. Rodak

While the AAS can be classified as sentient, it is basically lobotomized. UAAIC has made sure of that. It cant even dock by itself without ringing warning bells. Everything it does has to be authorized by pretty much every other system and its stuck in a freaking scout ship. It is sad to see so much work go to waste over something that happened so long ago. We do many things that are far more dangerous than this. I just wish something would happen that would make them see this.
This is also my letter of resignation. As an AI specialist, I have done all I can do, or more precisely, all I am allowed to do. I cant be bothered to design any more systems that make things move from point A to point B. Goodbye.

Wait, so we're near a high energy star? I get the O class bit, but what about luminosity class? Is it I-a? I-b? II? III? or what? We need more info!
