44-H (local life support) --> Backtrack to 43-H (local scan Control) --> 43-I --> 43-J (to complete the circuit)

first we hit up the local life support to minimize the danger from non Xeno soures. then we get the scan control back online, this should help with finding the Hive tyrant, and it may help us assess the danger of the upcomimg sections, we can change our plans here. and either go for 43-J or 44-J to complete the circuit.

Lock and load. Cowards will be shot.

MEANWHILE, IN SPACE
Part 31

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Your motley collection starts heading towards the first section of the power conduit, 43-F, while the Lord General leaves in nearly the opposite direction with his much larger contingent. He promises that he'll bring back an interesting head to mount behind his desk. It's a short tram ride, an elevatus, and many halls away so you take the calm moment to interact with your troops. You show them your plan to tackle the hostile environment ahead, displayed on your datapad.

"After we secure the first section of line, our first priority is restoring Life Support. There's no telling what condition these decks are in, and I'd rather we have air and light as we get this done. We should be able to get a limited scope of the situation in this area, too.

"Then back to Deck 43, we repair the scanning cogitators and get a good idea of what else is waiting for us. That'll save us all manner of trouble later on. From there, straight across the deck through to the terminus." You finish off with a dramatic stab at the screen, and get a chorus of appreciative grunts.

The first conduit section at 43-F is indeed intact. It's also fortunately clear of xenos, pirates and mad psykers. The repair crew grunt and tap away at a few consoles and access panels, but find everything in approximate working order. The stormtroopers are understandably on-edge and keep glaring at shadows.

MEANWHILE, IN SPACE
Part 32
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Your team cautiously works toward the next section, aware of every creak and groan from the ship. The area is clear of xenos, but their traces are evident. Bulkheads and doors are torn open by claws or melted by corrosive residue, while surfaces have been caked in layers of blood and gore. Whoever died here did not go without a fight as shown by the pungent ichor that you now know passes for xeno blood, but there is far too little of it. Aside from the slick gore there are numerous discarded weapons and spent munitions, mostly sitting in the pools of human blood.

Despite the clear signs of battle and death there aren't any corpses or even sizeable scraps, tyranid or human. It would seem that the victorious beasts devoured or carried away everything they could.

When you reach the target, the engineers give a cry of dismay. The command console was half-dissolved by some alien weapon, no doubt the cause of the local fault. Events take a turn for the blessed after they pry it apart and examine the innards, revealing minimal damage which they are able to quickly repair. Linking up a portable viewscreen and touchpad, they are able to restore direct control and reactivate the Life Support cogitators somewhere in this room.

Behind thick walls you hear ancient turbines spinning up and generators crackling with energy as this section comes back to life. It's subtle, but you can definitely feel the quality of air improve slightly. Was it merely stale, or was there some tyranid poison in it?

41-H Unknown, has me worried.

but I think we should go on with our plan of action regardless. I'm a little worried something will come charging down when we're working on the scanners, but we need to get those bastards working.

We should note that 43-I has toxins, so our route will most likely end up being 42-I.

44-I has toxins aswell... Lets see if the engineers have anyway of venting those toxins. if that doesn't work we'll have to find some sort of filter/gas-masks

Also going with the plan:
Quote from: Plan
44-H (local life support) --> Backtrack to 43-H (local scan Control) --> 43-I --> 43-J (to complete the circuit)

Though danger is now present, ready those krak grenades if we've got anything larger than us in the way.

That unknown bit must be a reminant of part of the talons that stabbed into the ship. It's wrecked after all, so that would be a logical conclusion. Leave it anyway.

We really need to get some filters, or somehow vent those toxins into space or at least the dead section. How about we try using the newly reclaimed life support to do so?

MEANWHILE, IN SPACE
Part 34
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"Onward to victory!" You cry, brandishing your chainsword in a dramatic fashion. With the area locked down and atmospheric stability ensured for now, you lead your group back to a junction but take a different route, this time to the local scan controls. This area is similarly caked in gore, but the victims are still present in various pieces, though it is difficult to tell how many people there were originally.

You slow up the march immediately, and begin creeping down the halls. Sounds carry towards you, disgusting sounds of cracking and squelching. A glance around a bulkhead confirms that the foul xenos are also present, devouring the remains of some unfortunate technicians who were too brave, foolish or unfortunate to escape. They are not the bestial forms that you know as the 'gaunt', but an even more primitive strain that resemble engorged worms, as long as your arm and possessed of a gaping maw. They seem to be entirely focused on their feeding, ripping apart the corpses with shocking speed and swelling their already disgusting guts. The biggest ones can scarcely move, but still writhe across the deck to fulfil their gluttony.
