MEANWHILE, IN SPACE
Part 27

You carefully think over the two unappealing options, and choose to brave high-velocity manoeuvres instead of an alternate dimension full of soul-eating monsters.

As he felt the same way about the Warp, the Captain quickly sends down orders to the engineering crews while you vox the General and warn him of the impending manoeuvres. With a few minutes warning, your group secures themselves in crash webbing. Only the Captain has the distraction of his command/control link, the rest of you forced to wait it out in fearsome uncertainty. In these moments of painful silence you realise that this is the perfect time for some morale boosting, so the Captain opens the public comms and you begin a litany of hope and safety. Not a rousing military chant, but a simple, common prayer disseminated across thousands of worlds and used by civilians in times of crisis.

The slam comes without warning, far more powerful than the impact of the Tyranid vessel. Without the assistance of the inertial dampeners you would certainly be a fine red paste adorning the bulkheads, but the pressure is still felt as the ship lurches sideways in a drunken turn to port. The personal discomfort is nothing compared to that felt by the ship, as you hear a growing cacophony of metal stressing and warping. Snaps and shrieks echo from kilometres away, accenting a continuous deep groan that you can feel vibrating through the hull. Somewhere below an alarm begins to moan, rapidly joined by more from all directions until there is nothing but a warbling shriek bouncing between decks.

A glance at the Captain's structural hololith is enough to make you feel even more nauseous. Red and amber faults spread through the ship like cracks in glass, many of them originating from the hazy outline of the Tyranid vessel. As you stare at it in apprehension, the whole display blanks out before re-asserting itself. The bio-ship is gone, along with a significant chunk of hull.

With the parasite flung loose, the Captain has the thrusters cut back to a more reasonable level and begins commanding the lance batteries directly. Many of them were destroyed or overrun since the battle started, but more than enough remain to put up a fight as the Spirit of Silver slowly wheels about to bring its broadside to bear. Witnessing events on a hull-mounted camera, you watch as the stunned monster spins slowly through space only to be struck repeatedly with lance fire. Claws and tendrils are severed, and great pieces of its hide are ripped apart as the batteries take shots at mere kilometres away. The vengeance felt by the gunners must be immense indeed.

Captain Meer gives you a worn smile as the beast tumbles away into the void. As it happens, the Spirit of Silver was very nearly torn apart by the stresses placed upon it, with critical damage to systems across the board. Casualties among the crew and passengers are unconfirmed, but are certain to climb into the tens of thousands. With the bio-ship temporarily disabled and the Spirit only slightly more lively, the Captain sets a course away from it before it can come back for seconds. With the limited firepower available, it simply isn't worth the risk to try and to beat it down in a fight when the Imperial Navy is already on its way.

Huzzah!

with re-enforcements from the BioShip cut off perhaps now is the time to systematically wipe any and all remaining Xenos off the spirit.

it will most likely be a slow and draining process costing the lives of countless more brave men and women of the imperium, but it has to be done.
Let us coordiante with the General and start the cleanup, this party is over.

Also, make sure the civilians are still in safe quarters. Let's hope by 'missing part of the hull' means 'missing most of our cargo'.

And finish the prayer, with dignity.

Great, now that we are in relative safety we must begin the bug hunt! ensure everyone knows to keep atleast five feet away from eachother AT ALL TIMES so they can't all be beheaded in one strike of a talon or killed by a swarm of fleshborers. at any rate we should secure the lord general IE plunge ourselves into certain death

MEANWHILE, IN SPACE
Part 28

Although the bio-ship is no longer a threat, the Spirit of Silver is still in perilous condition. Between the tyranids and the manoeuvre, much of the ship is inhospitable to humans. Whole sections have been breached to the void, and many more have lost power and been rendered cold, dark tombs. Still others were crushed to twisted scrap or filled with hazardous substances leaked from pipelines. Now, the remaining habitable sections are fought over by the desperate remnants of both sides as they try to gain the advantage.

Without their mothership offering reinforcements and control the tyranid hordes would appear to be at a disadvantage, but there are still enough aboard to threaten the survival of the ship. For now they seem to be reeling, so the Lord General is eager to go on the offensive before they can. To this end he has summoned you to his side while more armed crew join the Captain at his command centre. The Captain was slightly reluctant to let go of you, but there was nothing more you could do for him, so you parted with a salute and a blessing.

After a relatively uneventful train ride (no carnifexes), you leap down to the platform where the Lord General is mustering his forces. He's gathered his entire stormtrooper contingent here, though based on their present numbers they've taken a fierce beating from the xenos. It is unfortunate that by simply defending the civilians they had to weather the greatest attacks, but their survival is a testament to their skill and tenacity. You find yourself escorted to the Lord General, who congratulates you warmly while swapping portions of his own experiences. It's all you can do to keep your hat on while he swings his power claws about.

He outlines his strategy to you in detail. In the first mission, he aims to eliminate the threat to the ship at its source. Shipboard scans have found the largest mass of tyranid forms, which is almost certainly where their local command organism is located. This insidious xeno, known as the Hive Tyrant, controls and coordinates all subordinate forms, and it is without a doubt planning some further nefarious assault on the ship. By slaying this beast the remaining tyranids will be thrown into even further disarray, ensuring the safety of the ship and curtailing further casualties. The Lord General himself will be participating in this hunt, and is hoping to add its head to his collection.

A second mission is not as vital, but still of great importance. In the throes of battle, a number of critical components were disabled. Among those was a particular power relay, linked to a variety of subsystems including communications, damage control, sensors and other utilities. Of the salvageable relays it is the easiest to reach and repair, and by restoring power conditions aboard can be greatly improved. Among other functions long-range communications will allow coordination with Imperial Navy assets, deep scans will allow for the locating of trapped survivors and roaming xenos, and more decks can have life support restored. In order to get this done quickly and efficiently the engineering teams will need protection, so a detachment of stormtroopers will be escorting them. The quicker this can be done, the better for all aboard.

looks like we're going on a baby sitting mission once more,

I'm sure that the lord-general has his Hive tyrant hunt under control, our abilities could come in usefull for the stormtrooper detachment that is going off without the general.

We'll bring back vital systems to increase our Lord-generals chances, and if we got time to spare we'll circle back and join the hunt for the hive tyrant.

for now, let us take stock of our resources and manpower.

The second mission seems the best use to put ourselves and those who are currently with us.

So, yes. Going with the Second mission first.

Indeed, while the general could use our personal assistance, he would also be assisted greatly by us helping him breathe. Plus the scans, communications, etc. And I dout that he would take orders from us, so much so that it verges on being certain.

Go for the second mission. The men need a commanding presence and we would be of greater use there.

MEANWHILE, IN SPACE
Part 29

After some deliberation, you choose the second mission. The Lord General is a little surprised that you aren't drawn to the glory of executing the enemy mastermind, but recognises the importance of getting the ship's systems operational as soon as possible. To this end you have a squad of five storm troopers, each a testament to the superiority of the Imperial Guard. Next to their hellguns and carapace armour you feel distinctly ill-equipped, but at least you're the only one with a chainsword.

Your high-value subjects are a group of six engineers. They're all thoroughly unpleasant individuals, but are undisputed masters in their domain. In addition to their work tools they have almost as much firepower as the regular security crew, and are probably just as proficient. With them you should be able to unseal doors, cut through wreckage, and reactivate any subsystems you find.

The storm trooper commander, a Lt. Groves, is not entirely happy with you being attached to his squad. Although you both know his competence is not in question, there is a slight unease at having a rookie Commissar overseeing his elite cadre.

FOR THE IMPERIUM, FOR THE EMPEROR!
Ftfy.

As your guardian team is made up of six men, including yourself, I think we should form up a defensive perimeter around our engineers. Spacing is to be prioritized, we don't want to lose anymore men. Especially Stormtroopers.

Check the munitions of each member and see what they all have. Any grenades there or anything that would help? I'm sure we may enter a CQB soon.

MEANWHILE, IN SPACE
Part 30

KEYS
43-F Start
41-H Wrecked Section
43-H Local Scan Control
44-H Local Life Support
44-I Dead Section
43-L End

A continuous green connection must be created between 43-F and 43-L in order to bring additional power to the ship. Each red section must be repaired, while existing green sections are functional. Dangers are not limited to Tyranids, the environment itself may be lethal.
