Sai'oda dropped into a Batarin Kenchi fighting stance-a deceptively aggressive form that relied on heavy body blows to quickly disable armored attackers.

"You wanna make the first move, tin can? Or are you just gonna stand there 'analyzing' me all day...?"

She growled at it.

((OOC: Should this be rolled as a combat by the GM or just roleplayed out?))

Without responding, S.A.R.U. shoots at her.

(I dunno?)

(eh, we rp it out :P)

Sai'oda had been ready for a cheap shot-she raised her armguard and took the shot on her emergency wrist shield which flared with a familiar blocky energy grid. It was a nifty little piece she had taken off a dead pirate...not useful against rifles naturally, but pistols, knives and stunners could be reflected quite easily while it held the charge.

"Ooh, didn't know I had that, did you?

Not exactly regulation equipment, I know. You think it would be that easy? You're going to have to be better than that if you want to survive in the field.

The questions it, do you want to survive? Do you care if you live...or die?"

She punctuated the the word 'die' by springing forward and kicking the machine in the head, hearing a satisfying groaning coming from it's internals, but it didn't seem hurt in any way.

"That was just a love tap, darling. Are you ready to fight for real?"

Saru grabbed the Batarian woman's foot as it connected with his head and jabbed her in the stomach with the butt of his rifle.  From there, he shoved her foot back and stepped forward with a headbutt to further imbalance her. "Excessive speech is for the feeble of mind. Attempting to clog my audio sensors with meaningless babble is futile. Surrender or I will shoot you with this stun rifle."

Sai'oda staggered back, a bit dizzy from the rifle butt-and wondered why it wasn't fighting harder. Didn't it want to win?

"Surrender is very logical, isn't it...you first."

As the machine move forward to headbutt her, She grabbed a hold of its neck and after a few moments of struggle, was surprised herself as it threw her off-in a strange mimic of her own fighting style. Why you little metal bastard...

Sai'oda came back in, and launched a lightning fast kick to the back of it's left leg-and heard a pop like an exploding lightbulb as she hit one of it's blocky joints, but it still continued on. Did she actually hurt something in there? If so, it showed no sign of pain-but it wasn't moving as fast now. Then again, neither was she.

Her double hearts were beating fast now.

Batarians were stronger than humans. The database said so but now he had experienced it first hand. His left hip was at 95% integrity; he could fix it himself given time. For now, though, he had more immediate problems. Focusing on her, he tossed the rifle to her to tie up her hands - either she would catch it, or she would try to knock it aside, most likely. If she did catch it it would only be useful as a clubbing instrument to her. Either way, he followed the toss by shooting in quickly, to catch her around the hips  with his arms and try to power her up in the air and then down onto her back. From there, the close combat programs suggested he should try to sit on her stomach, where he would have an excellent position to try many things. He thought perhaps an armbar would be best...

The machine paused for just a half second more than it needed to have fooled Sai'oda, by consulting it's database. She saw that it was ready to throw the rifle, and come at her low-an interesting tactic, and it meant that this machine was able to improvise...very impressive.

But, all the processing power in the world wasn't going to help it now-she was going to catch it in a headlock and keep twisting until something snapped-let the Tech Boys have some fun repairing it. She sidestepped and the rifle and it flew past past-smacking into the wall, and...firing?

The stun shot went wild, spranging into the ceiling, and the wall and richocheting...right into Sai'oda's side.

Sai'oda fell down in a heap, her whole body afire with electric impulses-ouch. The robot had put that stunner on full power-now, why had it done that?

She raised her hand to stop the match. The machine hadn't taken advantage of her position, which was odd.

"Congratulations. That was pure dumb luck, tin can. Are you gonna tell me you had that outcome calculated?

Heh...anyway, good fight. So, are you going to give me a hand up or not?"

Sai'oda knew stun rifles were actually built very well-the chance of an accidental discharge was almost less then one percent, and even then what was the chance the bolt would have bounced twice to hit her? She'd love to see the numbers on that.

Saru shrugged. The match was over, it seemed. The probability of it ending in such a manner was lower than 0.001%, but even so. Mathematics aside, what was done was done. He extended a hand. "'Tin can' is remarkably disrespectful for one who in your position. I would prefer Sniping And Recon Unit. Or Saru." He pulled her to her feet. "And I would prefer to have something other than 'Batarian Female' to refer to you as in my databanks. It returns too many search results."

Sai'oda blinked thricely. Had the machine just shrugged at her? When did machines learn to shrug? Wasn't involuntary movement a 'waste of valuable energy resources'-that was what one of the techs had told her once, when she asked if machines that ever had to blink.

"I'd imagine most of search results are less than reputable as well. Hope you didn't get any odd notions in your head about about Batarian Females."

...let's just say, that was a certain market Sai'oda wanted NO part of.

She took the robots hand and stood up.

"Well, hello Saru. I'll stop referring to you as a consumer good now that you've shown me you're more than a toaster with legs.

Also, you can call me Sai'oda-or just Sai. I'm an Infiltration spec, and I'd imagine we're going to see some action together."

"Should they be? I only know where to shoot for optimum results," Saru said. "Common tactics, weapons they favor, their preferred living conditions... is there anything else I should know?" She introduced herself as Sai'oda and Saru inclined his head slightly, then retrieved the stun rifle and attached it to his back via magnetic plates. "Please, madam. I do not heat bread until it is... crunchy. I am a highly efficient machine designed to be deployed in times of war. Dealing with yeast products is beneath me." Despite being a synthetic approximation of a human male, his voice sounded... amused?

"There is a high probability of that, although I do not need a spotter. I have on-board cameras I can deploy and use their feeds to triangulate enemy positions. Additionally I have short range wireless capabilities and can override a majority of commonly used security cameras. Finally, my standard visual sensors are based on the avian humans refer to as 'eagles.' Between my targeting capabilities, integrated weaponry, ablative plates, and standard shield generator, I am quite capable of handling long range combat." His head tilted to the side. "Although perhaps stealth is not my strong suit. I am 95% sure that in most situations I will, to use a human phrase, 'stand out like a sore thumb.' Humans had so many fascinating idioms, he reflected. He knew quite a lot of them. Perhaps one of these days he would link into the extranet and download more. And maybe find out why Sai thought he might have 'odd notions' about Batarian females.

"Are you prepared for this combat training?" he asked politely.

"Oh, hi Officer. Yes, I am not yet familiar with the navy's jargon. Anway, I heard that we are to perform combat training? Great, we have not yet tried the W-60 in a combat situation. I'm sure you'll find it to be quite efficient: the DBC should give much faste reaction times, and the possibility to separate pilot from mech should bring a lot of interesting situation. Of course, I won't have to deal with jamming, but on the other hand...".

While musing aloud about the possibilities of the modified W-60, Sheb will take the M-32 Laser Adaptator from his bagpack and fit it over the W-60 guns. He'll then get in his jumpsuit, grab his laser gun and the Wireless Control Unit and get inside the mech for training.

Sai'oda scratched her scalp. Darn Humans and their low humidity requirements...

"No offense, but we need to get you some camoflage paint, chrome-dome, or a full suit of blending polymer. Some bucktoothed enemy gunner will spot you all the way from space and call in a orbital strike. I'll make sure to inform the X-O you need some shop time. Maybe get that leg looked at while you're at it. You wouldn't want to be at less than a '100 percent efficency' would you?

Anyway, are you a prototype, Saru? I can't say I've ever seen one of you before."

...

She listened and nodded, her lower eyes resting while her upper set continued to look at him.

"Training? I just hope they turn up the difficulty this time. I'm not at fragile as a non-combat trained Human, but for some reason the instructors treat me as if I am."

"Is it Batarian nature to prefer insults in place of assigned designations?" Saru questioned. "I'll update my databanks: Batarians are annoying." He tilted his head to the side. "Of course. My unit number is one-zero-one-zero-two-zero-three-one. The first two digits indicate planet of origin, the second two digits identify factory, the fifth identifies generation, and the last three are the identification number of the individual unit. I am the thirty-first second generation S.A.R.U. produced and the first to both meet and exceed desired specifications. I believe humans would say I have the 'honor' of being the first sent out."

Sai mentioned that she wanted difficult combat. "I do not think the training is for individuals. It is most likely to test how the crew will work as a team and identify areas that each crew member needs to improve." His lights dimmed for a second, as if blinking. "That is speculation with a 80% probability of being truth. It is possible that it will be to test individual capabilities as well. We shall have to wait and see."
