Ok we will be the Union in a full campaign.
It is March 1862, Ulysses S. Grant is sieging Hickman Kentucky. Grant has shown himself a valued leader and has over 10,000 men in his command. In the west, things have gone well, Union forces have made slow but steady progress against the confederates in Kentucky, and now a large contingent commanded by Confederate General Leonidas Polk is besieged inside the town of Hickman by our Generals Freemont and Grant.
Leadership both east and west is improving, General Freemont will soon create the first US army group in the west, and General Mcdowell commands in the east.
We shall focus on the west however, and Grants army.
So far the command goes:
**Ulysses S. Grant
-*William T. Sherman
--*J. McClernland
---*S. Hurlbut(11th Division)
Commanding 10423 men, 2703 horses and 11 cannon.
Reinforcements are comming by rail of siege guns to help take out the forts along the Mississipi. Also I will transfer about 20 cannon from wherever I can to assist this.
Grants armys goal - Push down the Mississipi into west Tennesee while General Hallecks 3 divisions drive the confederates from east Tennesee.
Reports from the east say that we are making steady progress, but after a small and bloody siege, Confederate general Beauregard took Fort Monroe and thus captured the James peninsular. It looks like they must enter Virginia directly now.
Stonewall Jackson and Joseph Johnston have been terrorising the Shenendoah valley, but when 3 Union corps came down on them they withdrew inside Strasberg depot Virginia. Unless a masive confederate force comes, they will eventually have to surrender to the Union, hurrah!
