Ancient horse

Smithboulders was a horse born in 787.
I've seen similarly aged goblins before, but for all I knew that was intentional.

Yeah ma'am see the problem you have is you've got roof wolves. They're pretty common round here sometimes. The only thing I can do in this case is put a puma statue up there and hope it scares them off.
Whats that ma'am? You want me to shoot them?

This is due to the fact that some creatures don't have age tags set. If it bothers you that much you could always add them yourself to the raws, but I think Toady probably has better things to fix than go through every single creature entity and add age tags for all of them.

Thanks. Doesn't bother me, I just try to report anything that looks like a bug, and while I wasn't terribly thorough about checking if it had been reported, I thought, better safe than sorry.

where do we find out the age of things? it would be helpful to know how long i've got before my legendary bone carver child can be put to work (also do we have to look at the files in the install directory to see what age things become adult etc?)
sorry for newbie questions in wrong sections, but it seemed too small question to make a new thread on

Then there's the 1000-year-old goblins you can get.

;)

Also I once had an adventurer strike down a ratman who I later learned had been born in the year 2. That's ONE DIGIT THERE.

This is a fox skull helmet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It menaces with spikes of fox bone and is encircled with bands of fox leather. This item is haunted by the ghost of Alfador Angrorung the fox.

Goblins are meant to be immortal like elves I believe. Toady mentioned at one point that they were meant to die violently rather than from old age.

im ashamed for that goblin
he failed his codemind of world conquest since the beginning
only to be killed by a lousy group of dwarves (or adventurer)
only to mass a pile of bone carvings and weakling serfs in his domain, instead of global terror as was his design goal

Hence in the civ notes, elven and goblin civilizations listed are the only ones without any succession.

Heh. "The Confederation of Apes" indeed.
