Rising with the main surge of facultites, Sam finally arrived at the cafeteria. Noticing the slight air of quiet in the room she remembered the date. Intake day. Quickly snatching a bowl of porridge, a spoon and some orange juice she made her way to the gen 8's, and plonking herself across from Rada.
She grabbed a small bottle out of her jeans pocket and started applying frugal amounts of sauce to her porridge. Without looking up she plowed into the conversation.
"Indeed, they are very nice. They really do care about you. But you've also got to remember they're here to help you make the most out of your skill." She smiled wanly, "Don't expect them to be pleased if you try to fight it or avoid using it."
And with that she put her bottle away, plunged her spoon into the bowl and took a mouthful, grimacing as it hit her palate.

Tom, after the conversation had died down a bit, took out his schedule... he really didn't want to be late... Let's see... class was in an hour good to know. And he jumped back into the conversation. "...Hmm... Well I guess so... What exactly happens in the first class?"

((They get their powers tested against a practice bot. It's a tradition to watch.))

Rada took a drink of her orange juice before responding. "The first thing you're required to do is fight a robot. It's not dangerous; more of a test to see what your powers are and how you'll use them in a combat situation. Those of us in the older generations who are on their downtime usually watch and offer advice. It's practically a tradition," she said.

"Yeh, She's right." Sam added "By the way I'm Sam Ridgeway, I believe you're Tom?" she said, finally looking up at the kid across from her. "And you guys are Adam and Alex?"

Alex turns to Sam, and says "Yeah I'm Alexander you can just call me Alex if you want to." Turning back around he said "Oh great I am going to have to the Twins over here giving advice won't I ?"he then turns, and grins at Adam, and his Doppelganger. Alex turned back to the others, and let out a small laugh before waiting for Adam's response.

((Gah!? I've been at Tom's table all along!? I should have acknowledged Tom.))

"I'm going to watch the opening ceremony. Who else is going to watch the first years fight the dummy?" Adam noticed that his doppelganger still wasn't sitting down. "Hey. Are you alright? You're making me worry a bit."

The doppelganger looked over. "...Yeah. I'm fine."

((The doppelganger becomes less and less aware the longer it's summoned, but Adam doesn't like killing them because it's memories flood his mind. To say the least, it is a weakness in itself since he has to remember his own death every time. He doesn't like people knowing this. I like flawed characters.))

"Y-yeah, my name's Tom Oly... F-f-fight a robot? Well I guess it won't be much of a problem... They told me my power was ... ... oh yeah, rage or something like that... What are all you guys' powers?" Tom Oly was a bit nervous about the bot thing, to tell the truth. Sure he was physically heightened when he got into a rage... but he didn't really have physical power to punch through metal in any case.

"I can summon this guy, but he seems to be out of it today. I'm sure he'll be fine for the ceremony though." Adam put on a false smile in an attempt to hide his true feelings on the matter.

"Mine? I absorb energy. All kinds." Rada smiled. "Those fools over there arguing about plasma? I can make that a moot point. Thermal or kinetic, it makes no difference. It gave the instructors fits when I suplexed their robot into oblivion because it couldn't stop me with its stun equipment." She took a bite. "Oh, you should probably know about that. The robots aren't trying to kill you, but they ARE equipped with tasers, shock rays, and similar equipment. Do try to avoid it unless you like writhing on the ground."

"Whereas I," Sam said, gesturing to herself, "have superior senses. You know, the usual, able to see in dim light, long distance, detail, hear quiet sounds, smell the faintest of smells, detect faint traces of poison, yadda yadda. Hell I can even feel the pits and troughs on a CD."
Downing her drink, she shuddered, before replying, "So my fight was not overly enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, that thing couldn't touch me, I knew what is was gonna do almost before it moved, but I couldn't actually do anything to disable it. Hands were a bit to sensitive to hit anything see. I've got used to it now though."

"Mine creates .... a shadow clone of a human." Alexander said, and then thought 'I would rather not tell them what Shadow actually is. The though of it actually scares me even though Shadow can't do anything to harm me.' With that he let out a yawn before continuing "I would rather not use it again, as Adam as seen my power has a rather nasty drawback."

"Well it could be worse." Adam said without much thought. Much worse, he thought. "You might have to drink heavily on a mission. Does nothing to help your accuracy." he jokingly said in an attempt to explain what he meant. Adam stood up. "I've got to go. I've got to go get ready. I'll see everyone at the ceremony." He pulled at his doppelganger's shoulder. "Come on."

"Where are we going? Did the ceremony start already?"

"See ya." Alex called after him as he left before turning back to those who still remained, and stared at the mostly bare table.

"Well, I guess it's time..." Tom Oly leapt out of hi seat and booked it to the class -he didn't want to be late for his first one... and when he got there, he found that they were going in reverse order- as had been told, people were fighting bots with their powers and the other 200 school people appeared to be gathered in bleachers and around the thing and such. So  if he failed he would be ridiculed by the whole complex. Gulp. In any event, the instructor ha dlaunched off into a spiel about hwo the scientists were such bureaucratic idiots that they too kforever to tell him powers- he just took demonstrations from the students. And so after 13 others Tom was called up, and he took a pill. "What's your ability." "They told me rage." HE felt a strange emotional volatility as he stepped into the chamber with the now activated bot. "I'm not so sure that I can just use my power at wi-" Tom said, cut short by being clipped with the bot's metal painfully. Clamping hsi face, TOm angrily said. "You... just. GRAAAAAAAARGH!", flying into a screaming rage, literally tackling the bot and ripping at fragile-looking areas, taking out a few pieces. It responded with a taser. "GRAH!" This caused Tom to briefly hit the ground before going back up onto the thing.

Alex stood with the others waiting for his turn, and watching Tom take his turn against the bot. After several seconds of the brute display he said "He is basically a Berzerker ?" There was a very confused tone to his voice as the once shy figure began pounding the Bot into submission. He raised his eyebrow, and continued to watch to see what would happen.
