Levered Gear Assemblies

Disengaging a gear assembly causes all mechanisms supported by it to be destroyed. Ie: If you have a windmill or something on top of a gear assembly that is attached to a lever and pull the lever, the windmill is destroyed.

Also, you can use mechanisms for support even when they aren't finished being constructed.

This is known and mentioned in the wiki. Current fix for it is to just put another gear in the gear assembly that stays connected all the time. Of course there's nothing stopping you from building supports or walls under it (except maybe laziness).  :p

I'd say link to a gear assembly that isn't holding something up then. ;P

For instance, I set up my water-wheel / gear assemblies like this:

code:

@
O@
|=
O=
=

The Os are gear assemblies, and the topmost one is the one hooked to a lever. When I flip the lever, power from the water wheel can no longer reach the pump, but nothing collapses because the pump is on solid ground instead of being held up by the gear assembly. (The @s are the pump, the =s are a water wheel, and the | is a horizontal axle.)
