I think it actually works out cheaper to buy a new chronicles than to buy just HTTT and DW, though i may be wrong - shop around ofc.

and yes it is easy to do. there's updaters online if you have trouble with discs or whatever.

It is a backup choice. I don't think you fully understand the implications of leaving a major like England in the hands of the AI. There is a balance of power in Europe, between English nations, French Nations, Iberian Nations and Austria/Bohemia. If you leave one to certain destruction at the hands of a dumb AI, France and Spain will spiral out of control. And when one country pulls too far ahead the game becomes ridiculously boring because there is no competition any more. It's simply a massacre of the rest of the players by one of the players.

And why don't I take England? Have you even looked at the rest of the map? The balance of power is bad enough as it is without losing a French presence as well.

All this being said, sure, go ahead and take Venice. It just makes me stronger, after all.

Please accept my deepest apologies, as I didn't realise the entirety of Europe consisted of Venice and majors that you don't want to play. I was under the impression that there are over 80 nations in Europe, any two of which you could have picked as your backups.
