What time is it? Adventure Time!
« on: November 19, 2011, 11:29:52 am »

So, noticed there isn't a thread for this wonderful cartoon (please correct if not true).

Probably my favourite kidult cartoon out at the moment, this show follows the adventures of Finn the Human and Jake the Dog as they travel across the post-post apocalypic world of the Land of Ooo saving princes' and battling evil. Voices by Jeremy Shada, John DiMaggio (of Bender fame from futurama) and Tom Kenny (Spongebob Squarepants).

Suprisingly for a cartoon shown on CN it has some rather adult themes. The humour is very abstract but still quite hillarious, characters are well thought out, have relatable stories, and downright crazy sometimes; like Marcelines dad eating chips.

Anyway, if you havn't checked it out heres the rather odd pilot to the series http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsUlCH1xmC4 and the wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventure_Time

Oh, and its full of really good songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCgebB8Tits and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPb77l82-eU

So, what do you lot think of it?

I'm a big fan of it.  When I first saw it I was put off at the randomness and wackiness of it and dismissed it as a younger kid's show due to the art style.

Then I watched an epsiode or two and I was completely sold.  It's hilarious.

I don't watch this often, but when I do I enjoy it very much.
I love the dialog to pieces.

I've seen two episodes and it looks pretty good. Not really my cup 'o tea, but one I bring up to people thinking all cartoons suck.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

It is indeed quite hilarious. I'll admit I haven't really watched it except for that first pre-production pilot thing. I don't know if it got more or less funny from there.

I've seen most of season 1 and scattered episodes of the later seasons.  It's all in good fun.

We don't get any good TV here so I assume that it's decent at the very least.

Haven't watched it for quite a while, but it's a pretty great show. I even had an adventure time avatar for a little bit.

I like how the characters actually age as the story goes on.  Helps make up for the fact that most episodes aren't all that related to one another, which usually turns me off a show.

I've ended up downloading it since I got rid of my TV a while back.  It'd be great if more companies did what Comedy Central does and offered some sort of streaming option with commercials.

I caught up to the release schedule during a week off work and haven't gone back since. Hopefully the next chunk I watch will be as great as the first one.

Adventure time is definitely one of the best shows to come around in a long while...

Pretty much how I feel.  It's ridiculous that the only two cartoons I watch on Cartoon Network (other than Adult Swim stuff) is Adventure time and Regular Show.

What the heck happened to animation in the past decade?  Almost everything these days is just terrible.

Adventure Time is pretty awesome though.  I was trying to think of my favorite episode just now and I'm having a hard time.  They get so much crap past the radar it's hard to choose.

Yeah, all of a sudden Cartoon Network is big on shows stoned college kids would enjoy.  Must be a change of management or something, since they apparently bought both Adventure Time and Regular Show on nothing but pilots.
