She hesitates, wanting to give him the relief he requests, but knowing it was a bad idea.  "You're still hurt... I'd rather not give you any alcohol for a while."  She steps closer and says, "I can have Wool give you something for the pain, but that's all I can do.  I'm sorry."

((This scene begins immediately following the last scene with Glaive and Friesden.))

Glaive, in a rush, moves past Friesden and out the dining hall doors, quickly followed by the small yellow stripy filly. Glaive looks around frantically for Falcata, not sure where she would be at this time of night. Glaive heads off toward the dormitories and clumsily runs straight into somepony as he is leaving the building, Friesden screeching to a stop just before she does the same.

Flux was starting to get really worried about Glaive and Falcata.  It had been about a week since he had talked with Falcata, and it seemed like Glaive still hadn’t talked with her.  His musings are interrupted by one of the subjects of his thinking ramming into him.

“Meow! That’s bunny speak for ‘Watch out! There’s a pony you’re about to run into! Don’t crash into him!’.”

“Wha...?  Glaive?”

Glaive, while using his magic to help Flux to his hooves, apologizes, “I’m sorry Flux, I didn’t see you there. That was my fault, I was just looking for... Have you seen Falcata around?”

Flux looks confused a moment, then realizes what Glaive must want.

“Um... yes?  I, uh, just got done talking with her.  She should still be in her room?  Er, your room?”

Glaive nods, a sad, worrying, thought creeps into his mind. “You were talking to her? Is...is she still angry with me?”

“I... don’t think so?  I...”  Flux pauses, considering if he should speak his piece or just let Glaive finally patch things up with Falcata.

“She needs you, Glaive.  You... swore to stay by her, no matter what.  So... so hurry up.  Your love needs your support...”

Glaive sighs deeply, “You...you’re right Flux, it...it killed me to leave her lying there in the hospital, but after what I did, when she asked me to leave her... But I’m going to talk to her now...Maybe we can move on from all this...”

Flux’ eyes widen when Glaive says that Falcata asked him to go, but says nothing.  Instead, he simply steps aside so Glaive can hurry on his way.

Friesden keeps bouncing along following him.

********************************************************************************************’

Falcata lounges in her chair, reclining and feeling a little sleepy after Flux's visit. She'd only left the hospital and headed back to her and Glaive's room yesterday; truth be told, she felt she'd overstayed her welcome in the hospital anyway. There was very little physically wrong with her, and she had been beginning to feel selfish taking up Panacea's valuable time when somepony else could need her attention. More than that, though, it looked like Glaive might have taken her request for him to leave a bit more strongly than she'd intended, since he hadn't come back yet. She only hopes that he'll come back to their room soon, and then they can have a proper, heartfelt talk and she can apologise for her insensitivity.

The pegasus glances at the door again, wondering how long it would take for Flux to find Glaive. Hopefully not long.

Glaive and Friesden stand outside the door. He had rushed up here, but now, being so close, he had second thoughts.

“Come on, mister Glaive. Like Dad said, ‘Gotta say sorry’.”

Glaive nods to the filly and pulls out his key, unlocks the door, and walks inside.

Falcata jumps as the oaken door swings open, revealing the familiar, oh-so-welcome sight of Glaive standing there, looking determined. Already out of her chair, she rushes headlong at him, catching him in a passionate embrace, hugging him tight in a wordless display of remorse and affection.

Glaive is shocked by his wife’s sudden affection, especially after their last conversation, he hugs her back tightly, and sputters out, “I’m sorry Falcata, I’m sorry I stayed away. I thought that you would come to me, or send for me, or something if you were ready to talk. When you asked me to leave, I didn’t know what else to do. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have avoided you this long.”

"No, no, no, it's my fault for having asked you to go in the first place! Flux- I was talking with Flux, and- and he made me see, we should have stuck together. We- I should have seen that, should have seen that we have to work through this together. I just- I'm sorry, it was wrong of me, so wrong of me. I'm so sorry." she babbles, the words tumbling clumsily over each other in her haste to make amends. She continues to clasp him tightly to her, her continued grip reflecting the heartfelt nature of her apology.

Glaive doesn’t let go of his wife, and kisses her neck, before continuing, “I think we owe something to little Friesden.” he pulls himself away just a bit to gesture at the filly behind the door, “It was her encouragement that got me to come home tonight. If it wasn’t for her...I’d still be getting drunk out of my mind at the dining hall.”

Smiling, Falcata looks past her husband to the little, stripy, yellow filly peering out from outside.
Friesden is bouncing up and down, and as she sees mrs Falcata looking at her, she says “Meow meow meow! That’s bunny speak for ‘Hello Mrs. Falcata!’ Meow meow meow!”
The filly's cheerful manner is infectious, and Falcata and Glaive can't help themselves from breaking out into smiles at Friesden's adorable greeting.
"Hi, Friesden. I see you've been cheering up my big grumpy husband for me, hmm?"
“Uh-huh! Meow meow meow. That’s bunny speak for ‘He didn’t know how to say sorry, so I helped him!’ Meow meow meow!” she says as she continues bouncing up and down.
Glaive chuckles at the little filly. “Yes, she saw me drinking alone, and well, I’d still be there if not for her. She made me see that sitting there wasn’t helping anything. We owe her much.”
"Hm. Do we have any cupcakes left?" queries Falcata, peering round the room in search of the a chocolatey treat. "I think little Friesden deserves at least one, don't you?"
Glaive thinks to himself and says, “..uh, I think we have some left....” his horn glows with a faint light, and a silver plate levitates to them from across the room, on it sit a few chocolate cupcakes with sprinkles. He levitates the plate to Friesden. “These are not much, but please, take as many as you like.”
“Meow meow meow! That’s bunny speak for ‘Thank you mister Glaive and mrs Falcata!” says Friesden before she takes two of the cupcakes, having to stop bouncing to keep from knocking them or the plate. She starts eating one of them, nomming away. She tries to say something while she eats, but it just come out as a mumble.
Glaive watches as the filly engulfs the poor cupcake sending it to a quick demise, but fails to understand her words. “Friesden, you shouldn’t talk with your mouth full. Swallow and say it again.”
She swallows her mouthful of cupcake, and tries again “Are you going to try getting another one?”
Blushing somewhat awkwardly, Falcata takes a moment to reply, having difficulty finding the right words. "We- I think-"
She glances at Glaive for a second; he nods his head, prompting her to finish with: "Yes, I- I think we might."
“Meow meow! That’s bunny speak for ‘That’s good!’” She bounces up a couple of time, before she remembers the other cupcake, and tries to catch it before it tumbles to the ground.
The fraction of a second before the cupcake reaches it ignoble demise upon the hard wooden floor, it is enveloped in the soft telltale light of a unicorn’s magic. Glaive had caught the treat and said as he passed it back to the filly, “You had best be careful, my little pony, don’t want to lose this before you're done with it.”
“Thank you mister Glaive!” She takes the cupcake. “I should probably go home now. Almost-dad and the scary lady will be worried. They don’t like me being out too late.”

As the little filly left, heading home for the night, the young couple bid her farewell. Glaive closed the door behind her and locked it for the night, before turning back to his loving wife. Glaive begins, “I...I just want to tell you, that I still love you. I meant those vows I said, for better or for worse. I shouldn’t have stayed away as long as I did, but I only did so because I thought it was what you wanted. I’m truly sorry...for everything.”

Her heart twisting at Glaive's words, Falcata grabs him again, pulling him close for the second time to reaffirm her remorse. "I know, I know. It was my fault, sending you away so callously. I want you to know - however it might have seemed that night when I stupidly asked you to leave - I don't blame you. It's not your fault, not one bit. Nopony - nopony - could have foreseen or prevented it. It's not your fault - please remember that. I love you too, now and forever."
Releasing her grip on her love, she gazes briefly at the now-shut door, thinking on Friesden's words.
"Maybe- maybe we should, you know, try again." she murmurs tentatively.

Glaive blushes under his fur at the suggestion, he becomes flustered and mumbles out a few words. “Uh, well, yeah, we...we should. If...if you want to, that is. If you’re ready...to try again.”

Pressing gently into his side, she nuzzles him softly. She had been worried it was too soon to even think about the idea, having previously spent an age agonizing over the issue even to convince herself, but hearing Glaive's agreement bolstered her own resolve.
"I think- I think so." she whispers. "Yes."

END.

A knock can be heard at the door. It is followed by a vocal request, muffled slightly by the solid wood that the sound must pass through.

"Panacea? Are you in? Is this the right room?"

She tries to think of a response to Jaxler when the knock comes.  She opens the door to let Sarissa in.  "Oh, um, yes, I'm in.  Right room?  Were you looking for somepony?"

"Thank you, Panacea. I was just looking for..." turning her head, Sarissa took notice of the pony lying strapped to the bed, "...Jaxler. Looks like this is the right room afterall." She trots over to the bedside, giving a slight chuckle as she smirks, "Well, well, well, I know about your little scrap with Partisan. When I heard I just had to come see for myself. Looks like your temper finally caught up with you, eh?

Jaxler gazed over to panacea, hoping that she would give him something to make Sarissa's annoyance go away. he then said somberly "Please just go away Sarissa... You shouldn't kick a pony while there down."

"Now who said anything about that? I'd say you've done a pretty good job of getting yourself kicked down." Sarissa prods the heavy metal shackles with one of her front hooves, "Wow, looks like Partisan really doesn't want you escaping. What exactly did you do to him?"

Panacea gives Sarissa a concerned look.  "He's still recovering.  It... would probably be best not to agitate him..."

Interesting. Jaxler really seemed down right now. Where was that fiery temper he usually had? Guess losing the guard position and getting hospitalized in one day was a bit much on him. Even though Sarissa believed he deserved it, perhaps she should back off for the time being. "Well, hopefully you'll take this lesson to heart. You can't run around starting fights with just anypony that makes you angry without consequences eventually following. As a guardsman, you should have had better discipline." Sarissa looks down at the bruise on his head, "As much as the results of your tussle amuse me, I'd have to say that I'm still rather disappointed in you." The medium brown unicorn begins to walk back towards the door, "Hopefully, you'll find some way to be more responsible in the future."

Jaxler sighed when she left, he already felt horrible and didn't need her scorn.  All, he needed was something that would make yesterday's events seem to disappear.

"Panacea, How many painkillers would I need to take before I lost consciousness?"
