Hey kids, how do you spell "elitism"? :P

Seriously, I can't stand attitudes like this. A spelling mistake or two doesn't make you the scum of the earth, people! Everyone makes typos or stupid slip-ups once in a while, but as long as their message is clear (no l33tspeak, cHaNgInG cApS, etc), does it really matter?

Consider that not everyone here speaks English as a first language. It's a little funny to see native English speakers unable to, ah, write in English, and far too common, but I harbor no ill will at all toward those who have it as a second language.

To be fair, most people whose first language was spoken English went on to learn written English as their second.

I don't think the -GRY comic is ironic. There really are people who think riddles like that are clever, even though all they do is leave a bad taste in your mouth.

If I were The Man in the Hat, I would've done the exact same thing.

Well, actually, I probably would have put the knife into his eye instead.  Still, it's the same basic idea.

Look at the same issue another way: Consider how hard it is for you to look up a word you don't know in a foreign language to see what it means... then consider how hard it is when the word is misspelled! People who speak English as a second language are then both the cause AND VICTIMS of much of the bad spelling on the Internet.

(Though the majority, I think, comes from native English speakers who are just lazy. But that's the 7th-grader in me talking, who made it to the state Spelling Bee before bombing out on a word I can't to this day remember. Oh well.)

I've always made an effort to speak in full, correct sentences online, from the time I started back at age 14 or so.  And I happily ignore typos, don't mind netspeak, and try to correct, usually politely, the repeated errors.

But wanton sloppiness, particularly in the punctuation department, makes me twitch.  It hurts and stings!

I don't have a fine grasp of English grammar, as I learnt it mostly by myself, but I try my best in writing in a way everybody could understand me.

More:
Experience
Also
Woodworker (Yes, one word)
Axeman (For ONE)
Axemen (For multiple)
These two also for any word ending in man.
Dissector
Cellar Not sure how this one came about exactly, but...
Aquifer
Butchered
Awesome
Mason I really don't think it's that hard to spell...
Bedroom Again, one word.

As for Dwarves vs Dwarfs, proper English says it should be Dwarves.
But Firefox says Dwarfs.  I'm not entirely sure who to believe.

You are wrong, proper English should be dwarfs. Dwarves is a word coined by Tolkien.

But today it is more used to refer to the fantasy race, while dwarfs is used to refer to the small humans.
