Sure there is, certain tiles are labeled as light/dark when you loo(k) at them. It may not play a huge role in the game, but it exists.

Does it have to be weaponized against your enemies?  You could easily turn the dark against your own dwarves by cave-adapting them, then sending them out onto the surface to vomit.  Actually, since that makes them unhappy, you could do this enough that the repeated vomiting would drive them berserk, then send them out against whatever you want dead.

It'd require some tricky timing and luck, but you could do it.  Just have a passageway with a one-tile-wide exit with a sapling in it, then somehow time it so that it grows into a tree just before a siege gets through it.  If you fill the passage with traps, then it becomes a tree-powered goblin grinder (sure, it's only one-use, but still).

Wasn't there someone who wanted to make a giant hallway above his fort's entrance to make a vomit battery with cave-adapted dwarfes?
Well, I would ask about plump helmets, if, while typing this, the thought of brewing it and incinerating hadn't occured XD

My trade depot is set to flood with water at the pull of a lever.  It's deep in the tunnels with easy drainage.  I call it my "water for goods" trading policy.

raw gems, totems, skulls, chairs.. Pretty much any good produced really.

Tell that to a dwarf with legendary misc-object user skill.

Vomit.

hmm - that one is particularly hard due to the fact that it is unmanipulatable, but I have an idea. Cause a creature to vomit underground on top of a pressure plate linked to a bauxite floodgate in the room.
