GODDAMMIT CONGRESS STOP DOING THAT.

Signed. I really shouldn't have to be signing one of these every six months. No means no.

What's with the US Congress' obsession with China's censorship?

No, as an insane conservative who seeks to control and/or destroy humanity I am some what against the idea of intelligence, and anything that derives from it such as freedom of speech and open communication.

Weird, I spent some five minutes watching the signups scroll by, with a new one every two seconds or so, and not a single one was from the States.

I've spent about 5 minutes doing so as well and saw only 1 from USA. During the same time, at least 10 persons from Canada signed. You have like 10 times the population of Canada down there :-\

How can this help again? As said, it is like 99% other countries signing it. Congress is not going to (nor should it most likely) give a shit what they think.

It probably won't get Congress's attention, but it helps spread the word that this is going on.  It's also a useful way to gauge how many people care about this happening.  Plus, it certainly can't hurt.

Edit:  Looks like Tumblr is doing something too.  Their system actually sets you up to call your congressperson, which might have more success.

Well, they only get like 2 choices or something.  Hard to blame them at this point.

Intelligent/Knows how things work, and follows through competently.
Bipartisan/Knows how to keep everyone happy
Charismatic/Well-Liked by government, media, and the people.

Pick 2.

Even what may sound ideal there may not be the best for our country overall. I'm not much for the extreme types, regardless of side; do too much of a good thing (relative to who you support), and it can have either some repercussions, or recoil violently out of control. I speak as a full non-voting independent, with knowledge that sometimes the best of intentions follow through on bad ideas. Sometimes, what is best for the country, may not be the best for it's people, and vice-versa.

With any politics involved, I only really propose that any governor, or anybody running for office for that matter, should play some Civilization, Fate of the World, or SimCity at least a few times, so they can at least evaluate themselves how capable they really would be if they were that high in the political food chain. Sure, they may be games or simulators, to a degree, but at least it'll get them using their atrophied brains, and learn whether they really are good leaders or not. So far, my analysis watching government work is that it's full of delusional schizophrenics. So much to the degree that nut houses are even calling them out on their insanity.

EDIT:
I'm aware you meant it in a different context (see ↓), but I think my post still shows an interesting other perspective willing non-participants/non-voters like myself tend to see.

That seems to be the major problem. While I don't think every country should have a Party for the Animals (they have 1 of 150 seats in the Dutch parliament) having just two (major) parties can never be a good thing imo.

The democrats and Obama support PROTECT IP / EPARASITE / SOPA / WHATEVER ACRONYM THEY HAVE THIS WEEK as well. If there is one thing in America that can gather bipartisan support, it is suppressing free speech and censoring the internet.
