Hm. Fair point. I guess the question is what we remove to get some bandages. Rope? One of the wheelbarrows/the backpack?

Maybe one of the wineskins. 6 should be enough for until we get a caravan with the necessary supplies, right?

The kitchenette mold free, you move on to the pantry. it's nasty in there. The bacon is grazing on the lettuce. The ham is having an illicit affair with the prime rib, The potatoes see all, know all. A rat in boxer shorts smoking a foul smelling cigar is banging on a cabinet shouting about rent money.

Yeah. The thing is, 3 toolsets would be most useful as carp-mason-crafter. How about instead of me fishing I change to a crafter?
Also, IRONY I <3 YOU! Thanks for spending...idk maybe 30 mins of your time working that out. Maybe we could change some of the puppies for just a breeding pair?

You can if you want to, but you should pick whatever you want to play as, not what you think the fortress needs right now.

And yeah, I don't know how long it took, but it wasn't a quick operation. >_>

The problem with puppies is that they'd probably have to grow a bit to be able to breed, and that at least some of us probably want them for companionship/combat assistance, not just for the fortress to have.

Hmm....
I do believe some redistribution of skills is in order. Assuming that we go with your plan, we will NOT need 2 carpenters. And yes, fishing is out of the picture. I know I should play it as I want, but I am not about to see this fort come to ruin. Considering our miners, I could probably churn out stone crafts for us to sell to traders and buy the rest of our builds with. As for bandages.... I say sell a wine skin.

I wouldn't worry too much about our fort coming to ruin, at least with what we've got. Ample food and three potential soldiers should be enough for the most obvious dangers, and we've got plenty of potential for most everything else.

You're right that two carpenters is excessive, but I don't have a problem with it if that's what they really want to be. Otherwise, I'm sure they've got things they'd rather spend the points on.

I guess I'll officially state that my proposal is now at:

-1 Wineskin
+6 Bandages

On Food and Barrels...
I changed the wording to make a little more sense a while back.
You purchase a BARREL of Food, this barrel could feed 2 dwarves for one week or 1 Dwarf for 2 weeks.

Its good to see things changing. So many times I see people try and go at it themselves when making their characters for RPs and such, no one works towards a team goal. This RP is about working together as a Fort. Not as individual dwarves. The way the Character creation was built was a bit sneaky cause it tricks you into thinking you can be solo in your creation. Think about it though, when you play DF Fort Mode, do you build one dwarf, or a group of them into your starting seven...

Don't worry I am still trying to recollect everything to be more clear from when I had the broken game before hand...

Alright everyone. I have a ridiculous proposal.
Note: This is NOT immediately available. This is after a year or two.
I propose we build a charcoal powered blimp. Space for three dwarves, a hot air balloon and a wooden hull. It would go around the countryside hunting animals and bringing them back. It would he reasonable in it's construction. It would use thirty logs and twenty leather. It would take huge effort to make. I would be open to other nerfs. It is crazy, which  means it would be perfect for dwarves. Please let us make it!

Erm, kestrel, Irony did a list of the things we should buy with all our money pooled together.

I know. But the Large backpack would be very useful. The rope, less so.

Cool, so we have double the supplies I thought we did. Does this apply to bottles of alcohol also?

Alright everyone. I have a ridiculous proposal.
No sir, I don't like it. I'm guessing it'd be way too slow and cumbersome for hunting, and probably wouldn't be fit for much else either. Plus it's only got one moving part (the furnace) and requires questionable knowledge to create, so it's not complex or fitting enough for me.

I know. But the Large backpack would be very useful. The rope, less so.
I'm not sure I see the advantage of a huge backpack over a wheelbarrow. Primarily it's a portability concern, I'd think, but I don't expect us to have that many things we'll be hauling in and out of icy crevices or fetid swamps.

In somewhat related news, we now have four months worth of supplies, which is probably excessive. We could turn some of that into something else, like slightly better food or more gear.

Be warned though, the quality of that much food is very very poor, basically its not all that great. Also the quantity of food coming from work at the fort will not for example fill a barrel straight away so while this seems excessive, it might be very wise...
I'll give away this info though, was gonna leave it as a surprise. But say you make a Stew out of the Food, you would use HALF a barrel of 3 different foodstuffs to make 3/4s a barrel of Food while raising the quality of the meal. This change of level of food may also seem excessive, BUT, compared to the taste of the Original food, you will be more full, feel better after the meal and even be more "stronger" from the fuller belly...

Now that I think of it, I never explained how much a bottle gives.... Shit...
Ok I will leave this to you guys. I can't think of a good "amount" atm, so give me Ideas. Please remember though, I didn't fully create this game, so some things are still "broken"

The difference between Group and Personal Basics...

Personal Basics are basically the day to day needs for a single dwarf, it contains; a simple drinking mug, a towel which can be used to dry down when caught in the rain and such and a Carving Knife. The Carving knife can be used to make things like arrows, bolts and even some kinds of wooden crafts. That last bit was a giveaway on something I was hoping someone would notice themselves though. It also has things like eating utensils and small personal belongings that you could think of...

Group Basics contains Building Tools such as Hammers, Nails and other things that would be used by any dwarf Building walls, floors and such as well as a Simple Hatchet for cutting fire wood and other smaller tools. It also contains Cooking tools such as a Cooking Pot, a Ladle and assorted cutting knives as well as other little things. Finally it contains other handy things such as that little hook thing that Sawmill Workers use to aid them in moving the logs and hand sickles/hoes used by farmers. Finally the Group Basics also contains any other small tool that you could think of within reason, its open to it can contain...
As you can see though the contents are quite numerous that when divided it makes obvious sense of who will be getting what...
