I see myself more like a CEO. The mayor is the owner an hands out mandates. I draw up a list what has to be done, the manager sends it to the right dorf and workshop, the bookkeeper and the manager inform me of results. I go to the owner to say "we dont have fine pewter and cant make it, now shut up about it!"

Then I give him a new master craft gold statue for in his bedroom to keep him happy
(minor detail, the mayor absolutely hates worms, but the creator of the statues loves them, so i have an extraordinairy amount of worm statues to freak him out)

But i will tell my dorfs to walk into the halls of death if needed to kill the god of mime artists and bad jokes

The magic of bay12.

Or, you know, lots of people with strong religious views seeing if they were offended or not, only to be disappointed that it was just a thread about religions in DF, or magma.

Yeah, but I'm the one always working toward spreading PEACE & LOVE throughout the world so that they will end all of their petty squabbling and accept me as their one true ruler they can all have greater, more fulfilling lives.

Some of my methods may be a bit questionable, but in the end it is all for the(presumably)greater good.

My thesis is, if you're going to accidentally turn every dwarf into sparkly vampires, you're as evil as it gets. You're worse then... Well you're just the worse :P

From what I've read, Toady One will very definitely be adding that kind of thing at some point in the future. In particular...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Granted, that seems to be primarily in Adventurer mode, mainly, but I'm betting Toady On will make that kind of thing function for dwarves in Fortress mode as well.

That would be interesting... :D Particularly if you sacrificed to the god of strength and your warriors got an attribute boost... But then again, it could be loads of Fun if your military Dwarves decided to go to a service in the middle of a siege.

Do you know what I would do?
Have all of my dwarves capture disciples of every other God.
Then proceed to destroy everything they stand for.
