Unfortunately the "kind and reasoning" always lose to the "underhanded bastard."

What's worse, your suggestion would work the other way around too! The lying and manipulative shit-stain that is a noble would single out a dwarf who he has a grudge against, who has a room too "good" for them or otherwise annoys the purple blooded bastard.
 Then he would say. "I request a slade item" or "I want a wooden mechanism" or something like that. Meant purely to be an impossible mandate for his target to fulfill.
