Roll dice here: http://dicelog.com/dice

If people start to cheat, I'm going to do it for you! :P

OK here's the timeline info:
Code: [Select]
2011, November: The HackForums user of the name Anastasia starts a group called the "Revolutionaries".
2011, December: The revolutionaries quickly gain over 2500 members.
Early 2012: Dow Jones Industrial Average collapses thousands of points, the group - and anastasia - expecting this using the Elliott Wave

principle, execute a planned propaganda attack on Iran. Trying to replace the state with anarcho-capitalism/crypto-anarchy, they succeed. (Yay

for dubstep "national" anthems!)
Mid 2012 to 2015: One by one world governments fall or fracture, each one being replaced with a libertarian society.
2016: The last surviving government in the world, the US one, collapses and the world is officially united under libertarianism.
2025: Moon colonies are established cooperatively by various corporations, including internet access to Earth.
2036: At age 30, Anastasia leaves a helpful message and goes to cryogenic sleep - until better technology/lifespans exist, or she is needed.
2038: Mars colonies are established also including internet access to Earth.
2040: Biotechnology and cybernetics make great leaps each one dominated by a different corporation.
2050: The 10 year long between these corporations erupts... Which is better, genetic engineering or cybernetics?
2060: A peace treaty is signed including a merger of these corporations as the protectorate of technology-based human advanced, and is also the

first democratically/universally run for-profit corporate protectorate in human history.
2070: These technologies, perfected, greatly enhance human intelligence and physical power, the world having completed it's major sideways

correction from 2000 to 2060, explores space using Faster-Than-Light technology.
2070-2080: Space colonies are established everywhere, and semi-earth-like planets are discovered and colonized or terraformed.
2081: Anastasia awakes from cryogenic sleep and gets both biotechnology AND cybernetic enhancements to demonstrate her approval for these

technologies.
2082: 2 Warring alien races are discovered - using universal translater technology developed, Anastasia meets with diplomats from each.
Race 1 (unnamed): An authoritarian commonwealth
Race 2 (Xan'naz): A liberal-socialist society of scientists.
2085-2094: The people of humanity ally with the Xan'naz and fight the authoritarian commonwealth.
2100-2150: A century since the beginning of the grand super cycle crash, humanity allies with like-minded allies, and fights authoritarian ones,

freeing the galaxy from authoritarianism.
2150: A galactic alliance is established - "The alliance of Individually Minded Societies"
2300: This alliance forms a large fleet to explore the andromeda galaxy. They are met by a vast galactic empire bent on destroying individualism

everywhere.
2300: Entering a crash of millenium degree (equal to the collapse of the Roman Empire into feudal monarchies), a large scale war is fought and

there is great internal drama in the Milky Way.
3000: Having completed the crash, the people of the universe seek to investigate the origins of it a bit more...

I'll fill in the details later after you've selected the era.

3000 AD info/background (ask in game for more info on something specific):
Code: [Select]
3000 AD story:

After the great galactic wars, most galaxies agreed to ally with each other for the purpose of investigating the origins of the universe, as well as if there really is/was a "god".

The human way of keeping laws was adopted for most of the universe and works like this: Anyone can create a "law" but only those that cryptographically sign a document saying they agree to it have to follow it. However, many will avoid or banish those that don't have popular laws signed. Due to cybernetics, everyone can see eachother's laws they have agreed to, and many have alert systems.

Now, you are a (relatively - 100 years old) young scientist who has some brilliant new ideas about what lies outside of the universe. You have constructed a s starship at your home near the core of the milky way - which is very densely populated, by the way - and you are ready to set out on your adventure.

Now, what next? Why haven't you left? Because you must find a crew, and perhaps also find a quicker route to the edge of the universe...

This is the future.

Now, here's the main character - we're using "The Window" (this is a roll-under system, you want a low number) system for this. The rules are available at:
http://www.mimgames.com/window/rules/traits.htm

Code: [Select]
===Character/Story info===

Name: Samuel John Stevenson
"Class": Scientist/explorer/captain
Relative wealth: Middle class

===Atributes===

Body: Below Average (1D20)
Mind: Great (1D6)
Knowledge: Pretty Good (1D8)
Social: Average (1D12)
Net/cyber abilities: Good (1D8)

===Skills===

Spacecraft construction: Skilled (1D6)
Spacecraft command: Learned/skilled/talented, but inexperienced (Temporarily 1D10, will progress to 1D8 soon - with experience)
Engineering: Good (1D8)
Hacking: Very good (1D6)
Starship Piloting: Below average (1D20)
Science/surveying: Above average (1D10)
History & Philosophy: Average (1D12)

Now, I will also need 25 characters, one character per person.
I will need each of you to create one with the same template as the main character using "The Window", also please do not have crazy (outrageously powerful) characters, funny ones might be OK if they're not weird.
The main character will be run by everyone collectively, while your own characters are under your control.

Present main character situation:
Code: [Select]
You are in your apartment, eating - just got home from your work at the science directorate. What do you do? Where do you go? Mercenaries and other crew types can often be recruited at clubs and bars, whereas you might also have luck posting an ad on a popular forum (but face more competition). Please specifically state what you post, if you choos the forum route.

Um, playing as a character smarter than the player, or having any NPC smarter than the GM, is provably impossible. Simplified version of the proof is roughly: if you could imagine what such a character would do in a given situation, you could do that yourself and thus you'd be that smart. Otherwise great idea.

I don't understand... I don't have a character for this. YOU guys run it.

if by 'era' you mean 'point on the timeline', I'll suggest 3000AD and onwards.

EDIT: Wow, I type real good.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to bump the thread, but hopefully I won't have to as we progress along.

Armok. That is not proof at all.

Since you can be and almost always are working with more information then the guy in question, you can use your advanced knowledge of the systems and other meta concepts to be smarter then you would be if you were in the game. Not to mention when the guy tries to think of something and has say around five seconds we have all the time we need and the whole of the internet to use to look for solutions.

Thirdly, you can simply ask the GM to tell you things that your guy would know but you do not.

TL;DR Armok is dumb never listen to him. (Good information in any thread by the way, not just this one.)

Edit: Anyway. Lets go to a pub and pick up some gents.

No, it's not a proof. It's a simplification of an approximation of a summary of a proof.

And intelligence is not just about knowing things, although the difference is near impossible to explain to someone who hasn't actually meet a true genius. Or more precisely, if the explainer isn't one and can demonstrate on the go.

OK so, you failed your convincing roll, actually it was a critical fail :/

Unfortunately, this rules out the racers - even if you pay them, also they say some nasty things about you, your family, and your politics...
