[33g] Grates still support floors even if they're been
« on: January 07, 2008, 05:52:00 am »

I built a series of small spiraling staircases meant to be caved-in once some hapless goblins trapped themselves.  It's a 3 chamber death complex which I later plan on killing them using bridges and making them fall to their deaths.

Here's the layout:

I have one lever associated with every one of the 3 chambers.  The lever opens all grates (2 grates for the bottom one and 3 for the other two) along with the single support on the bottom floor per chamber.

Anyway, in actually trying it out under fire, it didn't work. The supports on the bottom collapsed, and all grates attached to the center sections opened and disappeared.  I did this for both the bottom two chambers.  So now I have two sections of earth that are floating in mid air.  When I move the cursor over where an open grate is, it says I have a grate there.  3 levels of floors supported by a grate that isn't touching them. :P

Lemme know if you need more deets.  Thanks.  Awesome game.

i think it's not a grate but roof (your level 4 is not disconnected from roof above)

Yeah, looks like level 4 is connected to the ceiling via the walls you left in the middle, so the whole thing hangs like a giant stalactite.

Doh!  I forgot about that small detail.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to kill them one at a time and set the trap again.  I'll revisit this thread if it really does happen the next time the goblins decide to pay a visit.

Yeah, grates don't support floors at all. :P
