Imps can transcend Z-levels...when dead?

So a fort of mine, set up in a nice position next to some magma, is currently crumbling into ruins, all thanks to one imp. The imp lived in the magma vent, then popped out to say hello to my craftsdwarf and cook, who, having little choice, I recruited and took the imp down.

Now, this all occurred on the surface, and the only way down to my fort were some stairs a good distance away. Somehow, half of the imp's body transcended a z-level, and ended up, smoldering, near my bedrooms, which happened to be where it died in the x/y position, just the wrong z.

I suspect the imps ability to climb up an down z-levels in magma played a part, perhaps retaining this ability, and gaining "ignore floors", upon death.

On a perhaps related note, my planter somehow died, claiming to have bled to death, but his body caught on fire, and was right on the farm plot, which was quite a ways away from the battle AND the bedroom where the imp ended up...what happened there, do you think?

I've heard of limbs that go flying ignoring walls and floors.

Imps can go up and down in the magma vents because they're swimming.  Unless this imp decided to swim through a floor, I think something else interesting is going on.

As an interesting note, magma men can't swim.  They're stuck on whatever level of the vent the happen to be on.
