Most epic death ever!
« on: November 10, 2011, 12:57:49 pm »

So I have a mountain fort where I carve out a pyramid with no floors on the levels for pure awesomeness.
On the lower left side of the mountain is a volcano, which I reached with my channeling crew.

And here comes the fun part!
A miner made a ramp collapse and fell INTO the volcano! 196! floors! Through! Magma! :D

And the fun part is... he bled to death on the ground level of the volcano! :D

Thank you everyone for the help! I've since flooded the fortress I was working on and now have a new one going up.

Yeah I realized that when the third miner fell down there ;)
But it is still epic!

Wait, by accident?

Now that.... Still happens frequently. Basically, if it involves death, someone on bay12 has mastered it already xD

Miner dwarves? In my volcano?

That incident was really what clued me in to the depth this game can offer, though that one time I made a fort of 150 dwarves suspended over a gorge and cut it all loose was pretty fun too.

This is what happens when you let children into your fort..

My most epic death was my accountant dwarf who was in a fight with a blind cave ogre and had both his arms pulled off (one at the elbow, one at the shoulder), he survived and healed up (and this was back when the hospitals were.. Not as good as they are now).  Eventually due to an accident my fortress began to flood from the top down (an ogre destroyed a floodgate on an upper river), he died biting a giant rat to death.

The first/only Veteran of Trammeledclasped was just barely saved from one of these. A draltha got into the mineshaft network, so I sent my axedwarves down to take care of it. Stukos happened to be the first one on the scene, and for his trouble he had his right arm abruptly and violently severed. He then picked it up and beat the draltha to death with it.

My most epic death in recent memory happened when a Forgotten Beast that I thought was trapped on the other side of a cavern found a way to the half where my dwarves were mining out gold. Many died in the slaughter and those that managed to hide were trapped in the mines with the beast. It chased some no-name farmer to the edge of a cliff several z-levels above a shallow lake and lunged. At the last moment, the unassuming dwarf grabbed on to the hideous monster and they both went tumbling over the edge to a watery grave. I managed to recover the guy's remains and give him a golden coffin with his own personal chamber in my crypts.

It is stuff like this that makes me always think FB stands for Fell Beast, even though I know it stands for Forgotten Beast. :D

Zepave Dawnhogs the Butterfly of Vales the Marsh Titan ... was taken out by a single novice axedwarf and his pet war kitten. Long Live Domas Etasastesh Adilloram, slayer of the snow butterfly!
Doesn't quite have the ring of heroics to it...
