Yes, and the only way I've found for my laptop is to manually remove the battery, replace it, and boot it back up, as that brings up a menu before booting Windows. You could probably replicate this by pulling the cord. Keep in mind the usual risks, etc.

Rebooting takes a long time, but the question is: If he used a pirated OS, does he have everything he needs to perform a sucessful reboot?

And the fact that he rebooted, therefore losing all those files in the harddrive...
