Europa Universalis III: Challenge Thread
« on: November 10, 2011, 01:35:34 am »

I love a challenge. I'm sure some of you do as well. Therefore, I will propose one challenge per [time frame] to accomplish. Whoever best accomplishes it gets 3 points, the second best gets 2 points, and third best gets 1 point. The points can be used to show that you have points. Anyone interested?

Challenge #1: Using the country of Ansbach (in any official version with the country in it), expand to the largest size you can between October 14th, 1399, and December 31st, 1499. Can you take Ansbach from zero to hero?

Doing that as Byzantium would be good too.

Other ideas:
-Form the HRE ASAP
-Conquer the world
-? ? ?
-Profit!

Bavaria keeps stomping on me, but in this attempt I have half a dozen allies. Maybe I'll win!

I've managed to nab a province from Switzerland in a war they declared against my ally Banden and I have taken Unam Sanctum as my national idea in the hopes of killing of some weak heretics to get more provinces. I have royal marriages with everyone and hope to inherit some countries if I'm lucky. Also Bavaria is reduced in power in Divine Wind if you wanna try that.

There's an exploit used to great effect in the Flagland Ulm AAR, where patriot rebellions (I think?) in war-exhausted neighbouring provinces take over the entire country and collapse it, leading to everything defecting to you. I didn't have the patience for it, but atleast this thread inspired me to start a new game as Poland.

Russia is simply taking an anti-Fascist stance against European Nazi products, they should be applauded. ¡No parmesan!

Me, I'd rather just take over greece. Byzantine has a amazing amount of guts left in them, even though they only have 2 provinces left, I assume they're taking loans like mad because they keep shipping in troops.

Byzantines have a lot of merchants and annual tax from being an Empire. Not to mention how high of taxes you get from Constantinople.

And I now have 5 provinces! Whoo! Let's just hope I can keep them from the inevitable rebels.

EDIT: Ugh, accidentally kept my game unpaused while I did other stuff. Now it's 1424 and I went bankrupt. >.<

Also I'm interested in this. I will try. And almost undoubtedly fail :p

They don't go back far enough, I'll have to use one of my older saves and lose a lot of progress. :(
