No, I think Bavaria is or something, though really everyone(Except Bohemia) would be voting for me if not for my infamy. Anyway they split their armies into manageable chunks so I managed to defeat a few and get a white peace. Right after Milan declared war on me...

Through a combination of backstabbery, WOR, force vassalisations, diplovassalisations, diplomacy, loans and inflation I have become the holy roman emperor.  8)

Well I'm doing reasonably now.

I annexed the Palatinate, took Bamberg from Wurzburg, inherited Hesse and Thuringia, have Naples, Lithuania and Lorraine in PUs, have Saxony and the Ukraine as vassals, and am about to force a PU on Brandenburg. I'd be HRE but having 4 unlawful provinces has screwed over my infamy a bit, and Austria/Bohemia's massive armies and SoI's mean I can't easily vassal electors.

In other news, Burgundy grew pretty massive before getting dogpiled, and I saw the Qasim Khanate for the first time ever :D

Got a bunch of lovely vassalise missions, so I'm now HRE, have Austria in a PU, have Cologne, Brandenburg, Meissen, Ulm, Saxony, Trier, Mainz, Frankfurt, Gelre as vassals. Rebels in Lithuania now mean that LTU is a 2PM, though I have polotsk and the ukraine vassalised. Lorraine, my first PU, still hasn't inherited, and they even insulted me when I went to war with AUS. Even though I had an army 10x theirs and they were on my side.

I'm currently in a war with most of western europe - excluding a tiny england and castille. I've just crushed the French with their 78k army, plus their 10k from remaining vassals, plus Burgundy's 20k. Having ridiculous amounts of money from Very Easy's +0.5 inflation reduction sure helps :D

I'm tempted to ruin my reputation to win the challenge. Just go all-out aggressor and annex everything in sight. But then I'd lose HRE and my 134k force limit :(

I may do that closer to 1499. The year is now 1464. Also it's 2:35AM and I have lectures in the morning ^^

Jeebus, that's amazing. I was nowhere near that size before I collapsed due to overextension.

I'm not really that big. I have 11 provinces myself but I control another 36 :p

EDIT: its more now. I PU'd Bohemia and grabbed a few more vassals.

What are we counting for victory conditions, anyway? Because Ansbach in my game is set to form the HRE inside the next century and WC from there... I still only have 13 purple provinces though

MUHAHAHAHAHA! Ansbach on 1 January 1500, exactly identical to Ansbach on 31 December 1499 but using the autosave.

30ish something? Like 36-37 IIRC. My limit is like 38, I had a giant war with Austria, Brandenbug and Holland right before this, and the badboy from unlawful provinces don't help no either. In fact my badboy is increasing despite me being at peace and doing nothing due to all the unlawful provinces I have and I'm going to have a lot of dishonourable scum wars declared on me in short order, but that's not my problem anymore since the time limit is past.  :) That's why I have so many vassals, I'd rather vassalise than conquer in order to avoid unlawful territory problems. It would be in the forties or possibly fifties but I got a 6 star diplomat and some good events from aforementioned 6 star diplomat. Not to mention a lot of my missions had infamy reduction as their reward. I also went narrowminded in order to get papal influence, so the cardinals also help a little bit. Fortunately my rulers all had high diplo and I managed to afford a embassy somewhere along the way and always had the florentine school active, once you get the ball rolling a good master of the mint and the national bank idea can keep you rolling in ducats with little to no inflation, especially if you don't have any navy to speak of, as is the case with me.

Spoiler: World Map (click to show/hide)

49? provinces, with an additional 55? under my control.

force limit of 310k+, 900+ ducats per year income, 4 imperial reforms enacted, 0 infamy, largest army on earth, and the only competition is half a continent away, and will probably collapse by the time i got there.

This is Jan 2, 1500. Nothing changed in the past several days, and I overshot since I was running at speed 5 :p

Lorraine was in a PU for 100 years without inheriting, I could integrate but I wasn't too bothered.

57 members in the HRE, who will pass further reforms easily thanks to the money i dumped into bribes.

I stupidly missed out a PU on a massive Muscowy, which would've given me another 10 provinces, and was waiting for France to be open for PUing when I hit 1600.

Also I'm an elector, all the electors are supporting me, I'm papal controller and defender of the faith.

I might reload from 1560/70 to just go ahead and warmonger everywhere, but that just seems a bit exploity.

Also I ran into a bug halfway through where I kept getting spammed with Naval Races vs everyone, which instantly failed. It stopped when I peaced out of the war though.

I also got the naval race bug, it's weird.

Anyway, very nice. :) How'd you manage the zero infamy? Inheritances?

Yup I inherited Poland, Austria, Lithuania, Hesse, Thuringia, and diploannexed Cologne.

The only provinces I took by force are Worms, Pfalz, Franken, Bamberg, Ghent and Vlaanderen. I got a nice conquest CB on Antwerpen to give me a core straight off. Ghent and Vlaanderen only gave me 4 infamy each instead of the 16.5 a province in the empire gives you.

Then I ran with an embassy, Florence, constant level 6 Diplomats, together with some cardinals. I had constant 100 CT thanks to PotA and Gilded Iconography

PotA? Also cool, lucky with those inheritances. I once saw Denmark inheriting Norway and Sweden simultaneously, quite sudden explosion in size.

Not really lucky, every single one was forced except Naples. From then its just a matter of being stronger than them and having enough money to bribe them above 0
