Inventory: Two handed steel hammer

Skill: any attacks with blunt objects   have a +1 bonus to hit


Is it just me or is there going to be some classic dwarf fortress hilarity going to happen in a few more turns.

You were correct.
Technically, since it was MY power animating the thing it should have no effect on me due to LOGIC, but whatever. Just saying I'd expect this result from a 6, not a 5.

  • You rolled a 5, so you got a critical success... but the action itself was a bad idea in the first place. Nobody ever said a 5 is universally good. But now you know that your own body is not a good place to store necromantic energy. :P

When i said in a few i did not expect one to be the number but since this is dwarf fortress not even the forums are safe from dwarven flavor madness.

To make things a little easier to read at a glance, I've made a small change to the wound system. When a wound is first accrued, it will be the color as specified in the OP:
Light Wound
Heavy Wound
Internal Damage
Missing

After treatment, they will now lose their color to indicate that the wound is healing. Any wound with an additional roll penalty (like missing or broken limbs) will keep this roll penalty until fully healed, but after the wound is treated and "turns black", bleeding (and the resultant health drain) stops.


Also: what do you think of a system of food and healing items for immediately restoring HP? The current HP restore rate is intentionally slow, so it would help. But I could imagine it being easily exploitable.

Nah, slow HP regeneration is good. If there are fast regeneration items, they better be mad nazi science with all kinds of unexpected side effects.
