Force bolt the mold, then get out of the pit. If the mold is still alive, then force bolt it until it isn't.

Round Three- Turn Three
In which the arena gets crowded



Move into the next room

[6] Spartan regenerates ONE HITPOINT thanks to his Ring of Regeneration! Spartan, seeing exits West and South, randomly decides to move South- finding the way open, he moves through to the next room without incident. This room is much longer than the other, extending South quite a ways. The southern end of the room contains another Altar, as well as a Statue of a hobgoblin. Floating above the Altar is a Gas Spore- essentially a flying spherical fungoid full of some kind of gas. The only visible exit is a closed door along the South wall.

Grab my bloody sword and kick open the north door, taking both the dagger and wand and throwing them into the room to look for traps.

[5] Powder Miner grabs the dagger and wand before kicking down the north door! It opens directly into the next room, a similarly sized chamber with a Grave in its center and exits to the North and East. He hurls the Oaken Wand [4] and dagger into the room, and though the wand skitters harmlessly to the other side of the room, the dagger is caught in a bear trap! At this point, Powder Miner notices that floating above the Grave are FOUR Manes, a kind of weak, (very) minor demon. They can be deadly in groups, however...

Cut the cyote's head off.

G has had enough of the Coyote's shenanigans, and leaps to the attack! [4]vs[6] The coyote dodges G's first attack, [3]-1vs[2] G's second slash does no more than superficial damage, [5]-2vs[5] and the coyote easily evades G's final stab! The coyote yips- derisively, you imagine.

Go east again

[2] Bob continues east, entering a new room. THIS room contains TWO boulders, with exits North, South, East, and West. Very exciting. Perhaps more exciting, however, is the unidentified SCROLL in the center of the room!

Force bolt the mold, then get out of the pit. If the mold is still alive, then force bolt it until it isn't.

Bulldog, thinking fast, fires off a Force Bolt at the Brown Mold on the ceiling! [2]-1vs[3] It is difficult to get a clear shot around the spikes, however, and the spell misses. Bulldog resolves to escape the pit, [4] and with surprising athleticism he scrambles back out. Now that he's out of the pit, Bulldog fires another Force Bolt, [2]-1-1vs[6] but not only does he narrowly miss, but the Mold grows explosively from the heat of the bolt's passage, and splits! Another Mold falls on the floor, blocking the East exit!

Aggravated Monsters

The brown molds in room 93 just sit there. Growing.

The coyote in room 70 charges at G, [6]-1vs[1], and bites G's arm savagely, dealing FOUR damage! Fortunately, the Mithril Armor keeps the bone from shattering in the coyotes jaws!

The gas spore in room 69 floats over to Spartan, bouncing off him gently!

Manes 1-4 all attack Powder Miner in room 29! [5]-2vs[2] The first Manes scratches Powder Miner for ONE damage, [6]-2vs[6] [2]-2vs[2] [2]-2vs[3] but the other three flail ineffectually!

HMR stands for Hazardous Materials Requisition, not Horrible Massive Ruination, though I can understand how one could get confused.

If a future round ends up being Spirit Quest, I would advise against taking the space coyote, however handsome and wise he may appear.

Ah, I forgot about that.

Force bolt the east mold until dead, or it multiplies. If it dead, then go east, checking for traps before entering the room. If it multiplies, then retreat to the north. Once there, close the door and write Elbereth in the dust with my finger, then write or engrave it again over that with the wand.

Look at the scroll. If it appears safe to pick up pick it up if not look at the other boulders.

This is pissing me off.

Continue to strike the coyote again until he is dead. DEAD, I SAY, DEAD!

G is enraged by the Coytoe's stubborn refusal to die already, and attacks in a frenzy of steel! [6]vs[2] The coyote is surprised by the ferocity of G's onslaught, and G's slash severs its head entirely! G then stabs the corpse a couple of times, just for good measure, and receives ONE POINT for the kill!

Ah, I forgot about that.

Force bolt the east mold until dead, or it multiplies. If it dead, then go east, checking for traps before entering the room. If it multiplies, then retreat to the north. Once there, close the door and write Elbereth in the dust with my finger, then write or engrave it again over that with the wand.


Bulldog carefully approaches the Brown Mold blocking the Eastern exit, determined to proceed in that direction! [4]vs[6] Unfortunately, his Force Bolt is dissipated harmlessly through the Mold, and a new Brown Mold is spawned!

Considering he has attacked twice and tripled his problem, Bulldog elects to retreat back to the North. Closing the door behind him, Bulldog attempts to engrave the protective phrase Elbereth in the dust- [3] E-L-B-E-R-E-T-# ...wait shit. Undaunted, Bulldog traces over the engraving with his mysterious Crystal Wand- nothing happens.

Walk down the room and investigate the Alter and Door. 

Spartan ignores the Gas Spore as it bounces off him like a spongy balloon, and walks toward the other end of the room. Unfortunately, he steps in a bear trap! [2] The bear trap closes firmly on his foot, imposing a -1 to dodge and preventing him from leaving the room until he escapes!

Powder Miner does not quail at superior numbers, and goes into a slashing fury! [2]+1vs[2] His first strike hits Manes 1 for ONE damage, [1] but he overextends, providing an opportunity for the Manes! [4]-2vs[6] Powder Miner easily evades the ineffectual swipe, and slashes back, [1] but falls flat on his face! [2]-2vs[6] He rolls away from the Manes' counterstrike safely!

At this rate, Powder Miner will only be fighting the Manes for ten turns!

[1]  Bob cautiously approaches the unidentified scroll- it certainly appears safe enough. He picks it up- nothing happens. Satisfied, he adds it to his inventory! Now, which way to go...
