The perfect war dog.
« on: November 08, 2011, 08:02:37 pm »

I am doing a project in which I will attempt to breed the perfect war dogs. I am butchering off the small, weak, and skinny ones in order to achieve the biggest, heaviest, meanest beast of a canine I can possibly get.

This works, right?

Eee-yup. I've made some attempts at it - ended up with a lot of war doggies with "untold amounts of fat over a massive frame" and "incredible muscles" and such.

Then, of course, the goblins brought their bowmen along. And lashers.

*shakes fist*

Nope, believe it's random:(

Why not only have the biggest and meanest dogs become war dogs? And the rest just breed?

No, it'll work. Size, body fat, muscles, etc are all part of the (albeit limited) genetics simulation.

I am often bad at phrasing things - don't hesitate to ask for clarification if something I said doesn't make sense.

You can't, really, unless you cull whole swathes of your population. Including, y'know, most of the useful ones.

I like you already, Loud Whispers. I think we'll get along just fine.

Bonus points if you work magma into the experiment, in a creative way. No "Ho, Squad of Skinny Folks, kindly go stand on the drawbridge over the volcano."

(You are going to need a lot of slabs. Also, what about the immigrants, man?)

Dwarf Sparta, the weak dwarves are sent to work the farms, and the weak babies are chucked off a mountain >:D

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Speaking of Sparta and cliffs and whatnot, I think I shall use the - Ahem -  lesser canines as bridge-a-pult ammo.

This thread just got darker.

Oh never-mind it was just a passing dog blocking out the sun, proceed.

If we had explosives, I would feed explosives to my ammodogs, pass them through a fire, THEN launch them from the bridgeapult.

Also, that wasn't a dog. it was a Goblin that had just gotten HIT by the dog.
