Man, I want to bet almost anything I know what the image's going to show, and it's likely a font issue, but you'll have to re-upload somewhere that can allow hotlinking (or fix the url, if it's just a typo).

Also: were you able to play in previous versions of ubuntu, or this is your first attempt at playing under wine? If so, did you install 8.04 fresh, or overtop as an  upgrade?

I'm too lazy to register to that forum to view the image; why not upload it to one of thousands of free image upload places like photobucket or whatever.

Yeah if I remember that's a driver issue of some sort.

I don't remember; it either had to do with fonts, or video card drivers.   Check the bug forum or wait for someone more knowledgeable to post.

Maybe it's a driver issue? Have you tried enabling all the restricted drivers?

Like I said, the answer is in the bug forum I just don't feel like searching for you.   You have the key, and know where the door is.   I can't unlock it for you.

1. Try reverting to an older version of wine. You won't die.

2. What's your kit? Specifically, try switching from open to closed video drivers, or downgrading.

I'm using Debian and things are working well with the open r300 drivers, and a heavily tweaked xorg.conf, and the most recent Wine.

ok so i tried to switch versions in synaptic but it didnt have any other versions, im thinking because this is a new ubuntu it gets its own repo path and they start with the current version

so then i got the winehq repo and added it and tried to force version, but nothing happened and i got no console output

i am now tryin to switch from nvidia-glx-new to nvidia-glx to see what happens
i will post my results here
