You settle in on yourself for now, turning your gaze inwards once more. With some effort, you have become fully in tune with not only your own heartbeat, but your connection with the earth mother. You open your mind and hear her whispers, her low voice encouraging her children. She is too large, and too powerful, to hear your voice if you wished to respond, but her voice fills you with confidence, and you rumble with pleasure. You are awake.
But the pressure of this knowledge fills you, and it leaves you restless. With a shrug, a part of you opens up, releasing some of yourself into the sky in a glorious blast of energy. A shepherd witnesses this, at a distance, and brings his story back to the village.
Satisfied, you cast yourself out once more, stretching your awareness to the forest itself. Not just your forest, surrounding your base, but further, until you have attracted the attention of the forest's soul. It swirls around you, your forces dancing and mingling, although you cannot yet understand what he is trying to tell you. You reassure it that you are waking, and it grows restless before leaving you. It seems worried, you think, but you do not know what worries it.
You look down into the forest and see the spirits throughout it, spirits of trees and rocks, rivers and streams, of life extinguished and birthed, and search for the strangers, but they are not easy to find. They are so small, and you are so large, and so far from where your vision is most clear... but you can sense what the forest senses, and the forest senses a section cut from it, a river not of water but of dirt, and there is the smell of cinders and burnt flesh... and then your focus is lost again, as something bites at your flank.
You return to the mountain, but the irritation has passed, and instead you focus once more on the village, imbuing your life force into it's crops and insuring they are strong and healthy. They are only recently planted, many little more than sprouts, but they will grow tall and strong, now, of that you are sure.
Finally, you return to the child, Kiruni, that was born last you visited. He is young, but growing quickly, strengthened by your blessing. He seems happy, but confused. He misses his mother... you swirl on, to find that the mother passed away shortly after your last visit - your essence insured that she would live long enough to see her child was taken care of, and to tell it how much she would always love it, but it could not keep her alive indefinitely with the injury she had sustained. Her funeral was short and sad, and even now her husband is carrying her up the mountain to lay her to rest within your cave.
You return to the child, and mark him as your own, and whisper into his ear that you will care for him, and he drifts to sleep, his dreams full of visions of you. His spirit glows.
The others in the village sleep restlessly as you appear in their dreams, waking, glowing with a blinding radiance that forces them to turn away.
