Holy carp, that hatches thing is quite a project! But how is it supposed to work? You link them ALL to single lever or what? That should keep mechanic very busy forever.

Yeah, we link 'em all to a single pressure plate at the end of the maze. That'll leave us with a single goblin to deal with. Shouldn't be that hard- we could also hook the pressure plate up to a cage full of war dogs, which will open, mauling the goblin. Actually, that sounds like good policy.

I also forgot to dorf people. Could somebody dorf me as one of the miners?

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Dorf me as your militia commander (First one) and name him Anderz. Any weapon is OK with me. btw, op, you may want to edit a post to be a dorfing list for current players to keep track of.

Oh, add me to the list of "wasn't actually intending to play." I just like to meddle. :P

Wouldn't mind being dorfed, though. Hamlet the Cheese-Making den mother, please. ^_^

Loud Whispers, can you keep track of dorfing? That's not something I'd be good at doing.

I took a miner. It doesn't matter who.

How long should we wait before PMing somebody? I'm thinking three days, so if GreatWyrmGold hasn't responded with an acknowledgement that the game exists and he's downloaded by Saturday morning somebody give him a little notification.

I'd say yes although I'm pretty sure there are more efficient/effective methods of defending a fortress that don't require us to waste all of our wood and metal on bolts
Remember my fort noodle? I was insane with those ballistaes!
Replying a bit late, but yes, I remember, the horror... the horrible horror... so wasteful and chaotic.
It was one of the reasons why I decided to nuke the fort.

Also, why is the fort named incestchained?
it reminds me of naughty things...

Because the Random Number Generator is terrible.

Alright, I PM'd GreatWyrmGold. If he doesn't respond by...oh, let's say tomorrow night, it'll be noodle0117's turn.

I'll be downloading the save as soon as I find the right post and playing as soon as it's unzipped.

Quick, introductory "update." I left out a few of my initial impressions, but this is most of it. All that matters, for sure.

-----

Incestchained: A History of Death and Recklessness

From the journal of Ber Goldenlizard, Temporary Overseer of Incestchained
Granite 1, 127
I have arrived at what will be my home for the next year, when either someone else from the Mountainhome or one of the locals will take on the yoke. A few quick starting thoughts:
They don't want any military or “traditional” traps. What do they want? A horribly wasteful trap that'll guide enemies through a possibly-deathtrappey corridor, and not so much as a perimeter wall. It will require a crapton of mechanisms, which brings me to my next point: We have neither mechanisms nor mechanics. Two farm plots have been built, good, but they seem to be more on diversity overall than constancy. Also present are a number of large rooms dug out in the soil, possibly for future farm plots, and a couple that seem to be for storage in stone layers. Oh, and dead lungfish every-fucking-where. And ONE bedroom. And that's just at the first glance. I really will need a lot of work to make this place not suck.
I'll start ordering some jobs to be done by the manager and--WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE DON'T HAVE A MANAGER?!?
