So, for all my life, I've been hopping from shitty PC to PC. My first PC was an Office reject. As have all that followed. Most of them can't run most games, and I'm lucky to run anything on them without it overheating.
Indeed, in most cases, I've had to DIY patch it with quick-fix ideas.
Video Card pins are bent? *Forces screwdriver inbetween PSU and Video Card, so the card is pushed down, aligning the pins*.
Computer overheating? *Blasts desktop fan into the open side of it*.
And so forth. My latest was a refurbished laptop, whereas it would overheat soon after common usage, so it was eternally propped atop the desktop fan, on its back.
But no longer!
Ladies and Gentlemen, I have spent £900, building a new PC. Now, whilst for quite a few older folk who have jawbs, this might not be much. However, I lived on a bowl of cereal and two sandwiches a day, and nearly starved to exhaustion whilst working in a warehouse for five/six weeks, 8-10 hours a day with 30-mins break day, six days a week on minimum wage (£6/day) - to put aside this money.
In fact, I had to trip over a little into Tax Savings to afford it.
HAF Plus 912 Cooler Master Case + 3 120mm Blue-glow fans
Intel Core i7 Processor 960 @ 3.20GHz (Dual Quad / 8 entries in Device Manager)
nVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti
12GB Ram (Can't remember the Speed :< )
P6X58D-E Mother Board
650W PSU
Wireless PCI Express Adapter, 150MB
I've been doing a little testing, and I'm able to run any game on Full-specs, 1280x Resolution, as my terrible TV allows at maximum.
- Total War: Empire, full ("Ultra high") specs, large-scale battles.
- Oblivion, "ReAnimate" EVERYTHING.
- Oblivion, Custom Spell to explode EVERYTHING within 100 meters.
- Mount & Blade, full specs, 600+ Soldier Battle (As 100 on-field setting at maximum allows).
And all works well. Not the slightest bump.
I've basically spent £950 on Skyrim for the PC.And of course,
DF On Crack.
