Accuse button
« on: November 07, 2011, 07:59:05 am »

Quote
Without trials etc., which we aren't going to spend time on (and it's hard to get lots of specific dwarves in the same spot at the same time, so I'm not sure we'll ever get to that in any proper way in a fortress), the accuse button will send a dwarf straight to the punishment phase.

This is all I can think of.

Urist McNoble has mandated slade crafts!

Accuse.

Urist McNoble has been convicted of murder!
Urist McNoble has been struck down!

So, wait, we can accuse any dwarf we want and be rid of him (assuming our hammerer has a heavy enough weapon?)

You probably have to have at least one unsolved crime to accuse someone

So now we have incentive to cause tantrum spirals in order to bank crimes for future use.

or maybe, while the overseer has the accuse button, the dwarves have the OBJECTION thing! oh god.
"ACCUSE MCNOBLE FOR CRIME XXX!"
"OBJECTION! HE WAS IN THE DINING ROOM WITH EYEWITNESSES!"
"but, but he's mandating slade!"
"HE IS INNOCENT!"

So, what if we get residual crimes and accuse migrants/babies who show up after the fact?

Does this only apply to killings with weapons? Otherwise, we could have a lever set up in the noble's room hooked up to a floor hatch with a child on it, and whenever he mandates slade we have him pull the lever and accuse him.

I'm also waiting for dwarven serial killers.

Proof that fellow Bay12ers can weaponize things before they are actually things.

Well, it hasn't actually been weaponised until you can use it on crundles goblins cats elves.

Also, can I accuse Urist McGhostly? I want to see the sheriff try to beat him.

I'm also waiting for dwarven serial killers.

You get seven of those when you start the game.

as well as a steady supply every season or so.
I just hope it works for crimes otherthan murder, f it doesnt ill just have to nickname a few surplus migrans as murderbait and use them if i need a mayor of noble disposed of. i will have a justice squad wih silver hammers, better if i get a good mood, and no jail, ensuring that punishment will be severe. shortly before, i wll mark of of said nobles clothing to be dumped, thereby maximising the change of a crippling mutilaition or death.

Tantrums can already rack up crimes other than murder, like vandalism or assault.
