Just played this recently. Trading iron/tungsten from mining stations to refineries, and then pre-fabs/plastics back can make a lot of money. And when you have enough monies, can you start trading advanced fuels and gems back and forth, making 10-20k per trip. Its the quickest and safest way to make money, albeit extremely boring. The Mendeleev system is perfect for this.

So I'd have to vote 1.
