Pixels: The Second Game! Voting Thread.
« on: November 06, 2011, 02:21:19 pm »

This thread is for voting on matters pertaining to Pixels: The Second Game!, if you are not currently in said game, please, do not vote.

The first vote will be the election of a Leader for Hope. I will take candidates as they post with wishes to join, votes may be changed, and voting will end once eleven votes have been counted.

I don't want to be the leader. It's just not a very enviable position, in my mind. I'm fine just piloting the habitat around.

I had to have a separate option.

It wouldn't let me put it up without.

I'll take you out if someone else wishes to join it.

But still, vote. You are allowed to change it later.

I don't think a poll in this fashion is the right way to do it. Here, we've no idea who's going to be voting. Be it a long-time player of Pixels, or a random passer-by who thinks that one name sounds better. The better option, I think, is to just have voters post their vote, then count it up when we have to. This way, there's no voter fraud.

Unfortunately, it also means no anonymous voting, but that seems minor compared to what will happen if random people who shouldn't have a vote vote. I guess we could all just PM ashton with our vote, but I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate a torrent of mail.

I trust the Bay12 community enough not to screw us up like that.

But it is possible that someone could screw us up if they don't look before they vote.

If you insist on making the poll be extremely vulnerable to fraud (I mean honestly, come on. Sure there's the intelligent majority, but you don't have to look far for the fools), then at least reset and lock the poll. The percentage of people willing to take the time to switch their vote surely isn't 100%, and you don't even have an opponent. Show a bit of patience, if you're going to win, as seems likely with the amount of opponents you have, then you can wait. Do it fairly, or not at all.

Additionally, what is to say that I don't simply create a bunch of accounts for the sole point of voting? Sure I might get banned, but what of my candidate? You've got to have at least a semblance of fairness.

You are determined to find an argument to most everything I do, aren't you? First on what I was researching, the on using treads, and now this.

It can be done better, I agree, but any poll on Bay12 is
Quote
extremely vulnerable to fraud
and trying to just send in votes via PM or posting them in the thread will get confusing, this is simpler, if less secure.

I'll put the names of every single player on and reset the poll, if you insist.

Confusing? Really? It's too much work to simply look through a thread to who's voting? This thread won't be too long, so there's no way it'll take any amount of time, and ashton even said he's willing if we go the PM route. There's no way either is confusing.

Elections aren't meant to be simple, they're meant to be fair.

This thread isn't only for electing a leader, this will be a general poll thread.

That everyone can vote in. It isn't that hard to count up the votes. If you're too lazy to do it, I will.

Hey, Ash suggested nine, and I went with that.

I'll change it if you're really that pissed about it. It'll take longer for consensus to be reached, but if that's what you want...

Besides, you're arguing over a moot point, since this thing can be changed at any time. You want to do it differently, fine, tell me and Ash, since us three seem to be the only ones that really care about the method.

Although from the way you've acted so far, it seems like you have a personal vendetta against me.

Fine. Your way. You get to tell the guys in the thread that we will be voting on a leader for Hope by PMing Ash with our choices.

Umm it was only a suggestion but yeah, just try and work something out between yourselves, at this rate though I'll do a "Hope collapses into anarchy after Areyoua steps down, Machu Pichu take it upon themselves to install a leader of their own"... actually that could be quite interesting

I have no idea what you're talking about. I never questioned how much makes up a quorum, only the validity of an election by everyone on the internet.

Although, you might have misinterpreted "That everyone can vote in". By that, I mean that everyone can vote in an election by forum poll, whereas if we know who voted for who, or if just ashton knew, than we wouldn't have non-players voting.
