Steampunk games
« on: November 06, 2011, 09:58:37 am »

Anybody know of some good steampunk games for the PC? (Don't say Guild Wars 1 or 2.) Weather it's an indev rougelike, or a triple A title, I want to know about it.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

There are plenty of Steampunk games on the PC, the term that is narrowing your results to so few is "good". :P There are one or two indie ones on Steam I believe, one of which is free to play.

There is also this, it's not steampunk per se, but it is set in the historical period upon which Steampunk is based. It's also a pretty neat little time-waster to play while waiting for more replies here.

Steamband!

Then there's Arcanum:Whatever-that-subtitle-is. Pretty decent, that. That Rise of Nations fantasy spinoff had a steampunk faction.

Another pair of flash games is Sapphire skies, which is a little buggy but alright and Steamlands, which is pretty solid for what it is.

Well, the ones that spring to mind are:

Arcanum // isometric RPG Troika from 2001
Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends // RTS with a steamy faction
Guns of Icarus // Sort of FPS on an airship
Steamband // Angband roguelike
Steamlands // Flashgame. Battle with a self-made traintankthing.

This interest is relevant to my threads!

Anyway, I remember an old sega game called steel empire. It was pretty standard, as far as games where you fly to the right and shoot things go, still, if your looking for a specific aesthetic then who cares about story or anything like that! The point is that the atmosphere is there, so go, enjoy! Be the captain of your own airship and blast shit out of the sky!

Oh, and erm, little known game that you might not have heard of, might be worth checking out if you have a spare ten minuets. I think it was called Final Fantasy VI.

There was that RPG, I think it was called Silverfall or something like that, the added coolnes was that it had cell-shaded graphics :D

Also Stormwinds, a flash defense game that heavily goes on steampunk/clockpunk/stuffpunk with some interesting things :)

I also have interests in threads.

..To bad Arcanum have already been said, or I might've actually contributed something to this thread. Ehr... I guess I can clarify that the full title is Arcanun: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. Yes.

Damnation!

Hehe.. it's Steampunk, but it's AWFUL. I literally gave up after playing for about two minutes - so damn clunky and ugly.

Guns of Icarus is a steampunk-ish game. Fly an airship and defend from pirates.

I am gonna say that Hammerfight, and Rise of Legends are worth your dough.
Not steampunk per-say, but you may enjoy Red Dead Redemption.
