Dwarf overlap
« on: November 13, 2007, 12:45:00 pm »

I have a 6 wide hallway in a 'U' shape for defensive purposes, and my dwarves don't bother to go around the other dwarves in their way, they just go under or over other dwarves or pets or etc.

It's designated 'high traffic'.

It's because of the Dwarf Pathfinder Algorithm. Designating the entire hallway to "High Traffic" is the same as having the whole thing as "Normal Traffic", except they would choose that hall over another that didn't have "High Traffic". The pathfinder still makes them choose the 'shortest' [yeah, right] path from point A to point B even if it means crossing paths with other dwarves (who are also finding the shortest paths', it's just taking that hallway as "High Traffic" into consideration.

It would be nice if we could designate one-way traffic areas.

If that happens I'll shout your name from the rooftops, good sir.
That would be obliviatingly awesome.
Ooooh...the havoc I could reek...BWAHAHAHAHA.

Ya know what else would be nice? Pets obeying traffic laws. Man, that'd be amazing.
