Got it. It's amazing. me and Ampersand played a MP game for a while until Ubi crashed and then I quit even though we still could play.

In other great news, you can still play if Ubi servers crash, you just can't play online or anything.

Got the game. My take:

It's a good game. It retains the core of the Anno series and moves it into a near-future environment. I like the tradeoff between ecological impact and production, it really forces you to spread your footprint to other islands or face the consequences. No word yet on the multiplayer but if you have specific gameplay questions ask here and I'll investigate.

I finally got my hands on it this afternoon.  The demo was cool; but the recent patch has helped smooth out the kinks and set things straight. Its runs alot smoother on my computer than the demo did.

Also, its awesome.  Classic Anno with that near futuristic twist, the new factions and whatnot are cool.  I've been playing the storyline, and its quite believable as well as expected.  8)

Sooo how does this game compare to Anno 1404? I recently got 1404 for a steal, and I'm wondering if 2070 is very similar to it, or if its worth getting too.

Enjoying 1404 so far though.

If you enjoy Anno 1404, then you'll like Anno 2070.  The premise is a bit different, and the setting; but the core gameplay is still intact, and the new features make it cool.  Also, the single-player campaign is more engrossing and believable than the pre-modern storylines from the previous Anno games.

Using the three factions is also pretty cool, as well.  8) And I greatly enjoy the new technology and research system.

So basically Ecos have to spread over other islands because their factories are not productive enough to support larger populations (and have to colonize more islands to build more factories for support).
While tycoons have to spread out because their island will change into toxic wastelands if they keep all of the production on one.

And then there are the important resourcess that are only found on certain islands meaning you cannot stick to one island anyway unless you trade a heck of a lot.

Just a question... are single player Ecos arseholes just like the Tycoons in teh demo? Or are they shown as some kind of Jesus Christ faction full of good love and tolerance?

Would like to know as well, game looks kind of interesting but I won't enjoy it if it's constantly shoving self-righteousness down my throat.

Actually, the Eco's aren't that bad. And neither are the Tycoons, for that matter.  The eco's believe in balance with nature, but they aren't tree-hunging sociapaths; while the tycoon's are geared toward the aquisition of goods and services as effeciently as possible; but they still care for the environmental impact they have.

The Tech's are sort of the middle ground there, but believe that advancing technology is the best way to provide for both ecological damage and effecincy.  The only real 'asshole' character is Thor, who you meet in the demo; but you take care of him later.  8)

Pretty much. The tycoon guy after you take care of Thor says to 'do whatever possible' to fix the problem after it, and is only mildly surprised if you use the Eco tech after it works.

Yea, I really like the idea of the setting as well.  1404's historical setting is just kinda... meh.  I'm more of a fan of the futuristic setting of 2070.

Also, you can actually PLAY as the Tech guys? I figured they were similar to the whole orientals of 1404, giving youyou building designs but not actually being playable in their own right.  Or am I mistaken, and thats what they are?

Both factions have access to the tech faction.

So you play eco + tech or corp + tech.

Ah ok, so its exactly like the orientals in 1404 then, as everyone had access to them too, once you cuddled up to the grand vizer guy.

Both factions have access to the tech faction.

So you play eco + tech or corp + tech.
Also after a certain point you can unlock the 'other' faction as well, so you can have stuff from all three.
