So how does everyone place their population buildings around the community center? I can't quite find a design that looks good, but is also efficient.  Still experimentin' of course..

But anyways, Anno 2070 is a pretty damn neat game.  I've only played the Eco's to end-game, as I was doing the scenario to get 2500 Executives, and holy hell are they inefficient.  I was having a hard time supplying enough pasta, bio drinks, and communicators by the time I won.  This is not to mention the 'beamers' and robot servant things, as I was barely able to get enough of those to allow the Executives to be happy enough to move in, let alone be anywhere near fully satisfied.

Still getting the hang of it though.. going to try a shot at the next easy scenario, building a monument.  Again, attempting the Ecos, to see if I can get them down better.

Edit: Wait, found something on the wiki that talks about it..

Yeah, I generally use an inefficient, but good looking layout of a main corridor leading to the village center, with a sort of even shape around it.

The corridor design on the wiki looks promising.. I'm testing it out now.  Also using many of the other layouts for things.. my old designs for farms were more spread out but natural looking, if inefficient.

And when I mean inefficient, it took me 8 hours to complete that scenario, the one to get 2500 executives.  O.o  E.V.E. was beginning to worry that I was playing so long..

Ugh. Even without shields, once the AI turtles you might as well ignore that island or spend hours trying to whittle away at it.

Seriously though, don't try combat in an Anno game. It sucks.

It used to be fine. Now the AI pretty much demands you fight them.

I am getting so sick of Sokow and his bullshit in my continuous game. I've gone to the trouble of building an essentially all powerful fleet and I routinely destroy all of his convoys and warehouses. After that, he still has the cheek to ask me for money to end the war. I don't understand why they're so hostile. I also don't like that the AI doesn't seem to need to build houses and stuff.

I have a large island totally quarantined and they seem to be living on science and iron.

At least their cities are pretty. I'm always jealous of AI cities because of that. All a player can do is get fancy with roads.

Interestingly, Armok's name actually originates from arm_ok, a variable in one of Toady's earlier games that kept track of how many of your arms weren't missing.

Does anyone have a link to a reputable place to download the editor?

Also, I've only seen options to play as purely one side or the other. Is there an free play option to play as pure tech side?

I know that you can get the other faction's blueprints once you reach Executive level in continuous play, but I'm pretty sure you can't do pure tech (unfortunately).

You wouldn't get far playing pure tech. Their people are intentionally difficult to satisfy and you need an industrial base already in place to do so. You get the tech faction once you get to a certain point in gameplay with either faction, and as mentioned you unlock the other faction after a while as well.

I guess that works. Mainly I was looking forward to seeing how far you could get with a largely underwater settlement, though it looks like that's limited to extraction.

I'm still really looking for the editor, but Ubisoft appears to have heavily locked it down. There is the decompressor software...
