Yeah, it expands the science faction a bit, and allows you to force submarines to stay underwater during trade routes- useful when there's pirates about.

So I finally tried something I've been meaning to do- I took an item from my warehouse, loaded it onto my ark, and then reloaded the save. And then unloaded my ark to the warehouse, saved, loaded two items to the arc, and reloaded the save. Now with FOUR items.

I now have 50 specific coordinates for fish delivery.

Bought this myself for my birthday today; can't wait to try it out! Been eyeing it up since it came out, but never had an excuse to justify buying it xD

Any tips for someone who's never played an Anno game before?

1: Be prepared for a slow start.
2: Anno 2070 is probably more approachable than other anno games.
3: Actually this is a question, did you always get terrible birthday presents because of Christmas?

Actually no, I tend to just get this big deluge of presents over the two days. It's essentially like having one big Christmas, or one big birthday, whichever way you want to look at it.

Yes, you can quite easily cheat.

So it's been a while since this has released and I wanted to get a current opinion on the game as I am considering picking it up. Thoughts?

If you like German/Scandinavian city builders with a somewhat shorter and broader build tree and slightly annoying DRM and a little bit of potentially interesting RPG-style expansion, then you'll like this game.

The most notable distinction between this and earlier annos is definitely the factionalization, followed by the presence of the RPG upgrade/research elements. There's good, nice, friendly hippies, and evil, mean, aggressive industrialists. The hippies eat sushi and yogurt, the industrialists eat cheeseburgers and drink booze.

Oh, and ever-so-slightly stilted and creepy NPCs.

Still, it's a fine game and worth buying the base game, though you will probably want to avoid the "expansions", which are a little bit overpriced.

Isn't there supposed to be a scientist group, PTTG?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Oh, and there is a scientist faction, though they don't have as much character as the other two sides. They drink an energy drink made from coffee and sugar... so, actually, perfectly ordinary coffee with some sugar in it... and they eat something called "functional food" which is made in the deep sea using elaborate processes and large amounts of energy. Because eating rice and meat and stuff was too complicated.

Oh, there's some deep sea stuff too, but they're basically a different island "climate" that can only be colonized by submarines.

It is very pretty though.

Speaking of which, has anyone ever got a natural disaster, apparently, they are in the game but I never got one, even while deliberatly crashing all my island's ecobalance.

I've had several of them affect either my islands or one of my neighbors. Volcanoes, tornadoes, rogue waves, fires.  There are several; and it depends upon either the campaign mission you're on, or your settings on a continious play map.

Necro bump.

Anyone familiar with the Challenges, specifically the two "supply 1000 genius for 30 minutes"? Does the requirement of not having a mine or not having a power-generating building apply to the island only, or to all your islands on the map? Is the intent of the challenge simply to stockpile enough (whether on your one island or all islands) for the settlement to be supplied for 30 minutes? (For that matter, does "supplied" mean only supplied with enough resources to maintain 1000 genius, or does it include the lab instruments and bionics too, even though they only serve to increase satisfaction?)
